So i just bought a new clod....
Just placed and order for a new superclodbuster, i should receive it by next week. I just got frustrated on e bay, bidding and losing on used clods that would sell for $125-150 + shipping[X(], and even though i know i will only need the diffs, they will be new, i will assemble the truck and use it stock for a month or so until i get some more input on what chasis is the bets for me and what i want, but in the meantime any help on how to improve the stock truck for rock crawling, schocks, sprinngs and other settinngs to make the suspension work better will be greatly appreciated, also would you guys recommend locking the diffs from the start? where do i get wheel adapters/spacers from clod to hex? what pinion gear woul you recomend for the stock 540's ?

RE: So i just bought a new clod....
Hey i have been doing the same thing i bought a new one from tower hobbies and am using it stock until i get the full custom set up. What i did to improve the suspension was leave off a spring on each wheel so the travel is a little bit better. Yes i would recommend locking the diffs, heres a link on locking diffs if u have trouble with them ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4284237/tm.htm ) i would also recommend locking the rear tires unless u have a really powerful servo to push the front and pull the rear. Also if u just want front wheel steering move the servo to the front of the truck to give it a better steering radios ill post some pics of my servo in the front of mine soon. I'm sure you will be happy with the stock form for now and cant wait to c some pics of the custom set up.

Hey kool, your getting a clod. Im joshm101 from rccrawler if you ever start using that site. With a clod you should Lay down the shocks (see pic) so that the truck has a lower CG. Also you should get longer links. Narrow the tires. Make a wider wheel base. Lighten it up. Mount your battery packs in the front. Place your servos overtop your axles. Buy a jep body and cut it up and slam it [>:]

RE: So i just bought a new clod....
dez, yesterday i received my first part for my clod which are the wheel spacer/adapor from thundertech, and honestly i'am bit dissapointed[], for $45+shipping, i thought these things would be aluminum, they are plastic, are they any good? i mean i'am not going to compete, but will give my investment good use, i don't know if these parts are strong enough[&o]

Chassis looks a little tall and heavy for a crawler. Use the axles, shocks, tires, ect... and get a good chassis. I would look at one of the CPE chassis. http://www.crawfordperformanceengine...16&log_pid=yes For the money, they look hard to beat. What ever you don't use, post up for sale on RCC or here or e-bay. Shouldn't be to hard to sell.
As for the wheel spacers, my experience is that Thundertech products are usually very well made. I know my max to 23mm adaptors are Delrin and are holding up very well.

Delrin is very durable. They resist cracking and is more forgiving than aluminum. The delrin will flex a little while the aluminum will not, aluminum will cause more stress on various parts around it. RockCrawling, those TTR adapters will do great!

RE: So i just bought a new clod....
well the adaptors they sent are for 14 ,i needed 17 hex, i asked them before they shipped it if they would fit the wheels i had, they didn't fit[:@], so we fabricated some metal angle that fit on the wheel annd over the adaptor and now they work, i'am still waiting on parts to get here, hopefully this week and i'll have some pics up
