Also if you dont want to put together a truck just buy you a wheely king. Then go to the HPI website and follow the instructions to turn it in to a decent crawler.

Why pay $60.00 plus for some screws and springs?
$5.00 at the local Ace hardware and $5.00 worth of springs at the LHS would do the same.

With mine I just had a SS screw kit for a savage and made my own stage 2 and I am currently building my own and like dez and dogman said its alot more rewarding then buying something prebuilt. The AX10 instructions are great trust me any idiot can put it together and the stage two is really easy also. just a little time.

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
i am considering buying this kit as my first crawler project... i have read the forum here and at the "green and black" guys and haven't found the info i am looking for..
is there a way or a need to use a slipper with the AX10 tranny? I'm sorry if this counts as a thread jack... i just figured it would be answered here :-p
i was going to go with either the rooster or MM ESC wither the integy lathe motor or crawler fifty five and a radio i already have here

There may be a way to adapt a Stealth slipper to the Axial tranny.
But It isn't really needed unless your planning on using big power like 3 cell lipo or brushless.

I plan to be getting a ax-10 soon, I have already ordered upgrade's for it so this will be my first crawler project, I got one of the scale frame's for it from the crawler store along with a HPI Jeep Rubicon body and Losi Rock Claw's tire's I have a Mamba Max esc alond with a saddle pack li-po from max-amp's I so far plan to have 1 of the cell's up front between the frame rail's and the other at the rear, I have seen many mounting batt's to the axle's and I dont like the look, I will sacerfice what ever gain's by keeping them up outta site, Motor choice I have not made one yet, I can go with either brushless or a brushed have yet to decide, I want something with low rpm anyway's will get some pic's up in a week or 2 of what I have going on!!

as far as a slipper, the tranny look's like an AE stealth, all you would need is a top gear shaft, slipper plates ,pad's, spring and nut set up and a AE gear from a T-4/B-4

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
I personaly wouldnt bother with a slipper set up, I dont see or forsee a reason to ever use one unless your gunna plan to use a high RPM motor that you would normaly use to race a 1/10th scale car or truck, also it would be a disavantage cause you would lose the tourqe of the motor due to slippage,
Well all that aside, I have my AX-10 and most all the part's to go with it ordered, maybe before Christmas I will see it, Merry Christmas to me Thank you wonderfull Wife!!..lol, I will post pick's as I build it, need to get the dremel tool out and readdy I think it will be in use as well as the drill and more..lol

I keep shrinking a pic to upload for a new avitar but it keep's saying file to large, go figure, here's the real deal, so this is what I plan to scale my AX-10 after,

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
got my build going, with the TCS X-trail scale frame I had to make some shock mount extension's to use the axial shock's due to there leingth, or the ride hight was way to high and caused drive shaft binding, I put a brushless BL16 outrunner in it to be powered by a Mamba Max esc. steering servo is an Ace 1015 200+ oz/in.

i am really impressed with this thing...
only thing i see that i wanna change on it so far is i don't like the plastic shocks and i want softer than the stock blue springs
and ill prolly replace the bottom links with the bent ones from axial

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
hey larcor?how did you get the outrunner to fit?i want one but i am having trouble getting all my info straight.o.k. i know this much, outrunner is usuall not for surface, only air.but is there only one size of outrunner motor?whats the bolt pattern for the mounting holes?i seen the axial plate but what is the distance of its mounting holes?also,i noticed that the outrunner brushless combos usually have lower kv rating(perfect) and they also have speed controlls rated much lower than the usual surface systems.what i am trying to do is put a mini outrunner motor and a small esc and run the 2/3a size cells.i just need help picking out my motor.i dont want to spend that much and ebay has esc and motor combos cheap.can you help me out bro?hopefully you can answer some of my questions.i really need to kno whats up on the sizing of the motors.ithey dont go by the ratings we use for surface vehicles,280,300,370,540 and 550.so i dont know what i am looking for.is there a certain size or something?

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
hey jonnymobil... Im running a brushless outrunner as well
Here is a site with a few different outrunners that will work... some are a direct bolt on (crawlmasters) and others require a adapter plate which they have also....

RE: AXIAL AX10 SCORPION CRAWLER KIT!
Just joined the Ax10 Band wagon and i luv this thing. Never thought I could get into rock crawling this easily and inexpensively. RC rock crawling is really new in my area but is growing in intrest very rapidly. We have modified ours with a CKRC Stage 2 kit, and 45T motor with the Castle Sidewinder ESC. By far this is some of the best fun I have had with RC's. And I'm a true build it yourself guy. Its just more fun for me to built it myself, its as much of a part of the hobby as anything else is to me. I want down play the RTR's because the RTR's help bring others into the hobby and help it grow. I'm a builder and you may not be but we can both be Crawlers.
