Bullitproof Rod ends???
I'm building a 1:5.5 True Scale Trophy Truck. I figure crawler dudes are the best to ask about ball joints. And I know you guys can appreciate a scale build. Ok.......we're talkin Twin Nitros powering a straight axle rear. Using 1/2 square stock steel for my lower links. I ordered a couple Baja 5b joints to try out but I really want steel. Any one know??? Here's a couple pics for ya on one photoshopped pic

You can try the FK rod ends, from McMaster-Carr. They are listed under power transmission on [link=http://www.mcmaster.com/]McMaster's web site[/link].
I have many 6-32 ends on my truck, and they are high-strength steel:
Edit: I posted the image with the old suspension mount (ugly [:'(])

I don't know if Reiko will make you shafts since she quit building the crawler due to lack of shop time. If not check out the RC4WD Punisher shafts.

I have ordered many parts from McMaster. They are a fantastic supplier, but a bit excessive on the shipping for smaller orders.
The 6-32 rod ends were roughly $7 each.
Also, I don't make parts for other people.

RE: Bullitproof Rod ends???
These guys are incredably fast. Would you believe the McMaster ordered I placed Sat arrived today. They look nice. 1/4 hole and shank. These should take a bullit. Thanks for the Referral, Reiko [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Reiko, is that you in your avatar?

No, not me, just a self-portrait of an exotic photographer that I admire.
As for the rod ends, mojavemonster, are yours cadmium-plated? I originally had considered buffing mine to align them to the rest of the build, but alas that is a lot of work!
I was just wondering if yours look 'gold', or just steel.

RE: Bullitproof Rod ends???
Ya. I got the self lubricating ones. Basicly just a copperish bushing for bearing which will eventually wear out but for $3.60 ea. it's a good starting point. And yes they have some kind of goldish hew to them. I was also thinking of buffing it out but then I suppose its good pertectant for the metal. I'll probably just paint 'em.
As far as my build goes I have most of the main parts. Latelly I've been investing in some new tools. In fact I just came back from a tool auction to night. The build will require welding so I got an Oxy/Acc kit the other day. Haven't welded since high school so it will take me couple practice runs. Never welded aluminum which I'll need to extend axle and build the engine mounts
I ordered 2 RC4WD Mad Force axles thinking I could put 2 long sides together to make it bigger. Got them in, I was wrong. Some welding will get'r done. Then I still have an axle for the next project.
But back to subject I'd recieved the McMaster's before I recieve the HPI 5b's which I had ordered HPI first. Cost nearly the same but McMaster is 10x the superior. Plus McMaster will always have my part.
If I never showed them here they are
