That's why I would stagger the seams. Not as obvious as the one right down the middle.

except for the seam right in the middle of the bed. Your model does not seem to have a seam at all. This looks better tho, but no seam would be best!! good job so far.. how about the interior, gonna do a full interior??

How about longer strips ... no seam. Looking good !

Awesome as usual. Are you planning on weathering it like your other rigs? I think the bed would look more scale if it was weathered to look old and beaten up. Of course you'd need to weather everything else as well though....
Also how about some faux nails holding the bed together, rusted of course. Not sure what you'd use for that though, they'd have to be tiny. I guess you could just paint them in if you couldn't find anything small enough.

Those flatbeds are usually bolted together with Carriage Bolts, so he prolly could use the head of a straight pin. If memory servs that is about the right scale for the carriage bolt heads..

Update:
Bed floor is been detailed. Bolts added as well as correction of the middle seam. Next will be adding some tint ad slight weathering. I love working with wood!

Wow! That thing is really starting to look amazing! Looks like you did end up using the heads of pins for your carriage bolts huh?

RE: 1953 Chevrolet Half-Ton Dually flat bed build
Here are a few pics showing almost a finished product. The body is done after a lot of modifications and details were added. Hard to think this is a lexan body taken from a basher Emaxx.
Details added were: door handles, door mirrors, all window trim (made with solder wire), wipers, headlights and turn signal lights (still need to be powered), grille (made of styrene), custom front bumper complete with simulated carriage bolts, door windows cut and passenger window cut to simulate a partially open window, full cabin back wall and over all repairs and reinforcements the body needed. In the works are an illuminated dash and steering wheel.
Wooden bed also finished, wood tinted a nice maple color waiting only on a clear coat. All bolts were also simulated and finished. I added some trim at the sides of the flat bed frame too. Chassis was painted, motor tranny and halfshafts installed...its almost a functional RC. I still need to add rear lights which are basically figured out. I also add some cool smoke stacks in the back which will complete the badaxx look!
Sorry for all the typing...on to the pics:

Hey thanks man! I guess it looks good since the haters seem to have rusted themselves!! LOL! Im still waiting for the viscous, mocking argument against my builds that two well known people here enjoy to post.

Wrong. There you have the two (maybe three) I was talking about. My point is made. What you two (or three) will mock about my build? What new ways of flaming will you think of now? There is a point when you games become tiresome. So, there you have it. Think of more mockery and cynical arguments... I will let the rest of these good folks decide, share views and keep the hobby alive.
If any of you guys think I am over reacting just do a little review of my previous build threads here and you will get what am talking about.
Will post more updates later in the following days.

Bed looks much better.
Bed looks much better.
Yes they ARE (in another site)....and yes they were...in previous threads. Good try (not really). People are smarter than this, don't try to pass for what you are not.

Sorry I haven't blown sunshine up your keister on every build, but I call them as I see them.
I can say one thing. My (and others) criticism is having a positive effect on you as your builds are getting much better.

Nope...wrong again. The continuation of personal attacks outside of my build threads pinpoints to the fact you "objective" criticism responds only to pure mockery and disrespect. If in doubt double check your posts...although I know its not needed, you very well know what and how you do things.
The others, in this site, are only one or two, which really like to blow sunshine up your keister. Lets not mention who the others outside this site are.....and you know who those are, they call up on to you when their own "builds" suck...pathetic if you ask me.
My point is proved beyond any doubt.
If you want to continue babbling nonsense take it to PM....I will be more than happy to block you out...and your friends.

Just cant keep things civil, can you?? You were getting good comments and even compliments, then you come off with this stuff::
"I guess it looks good since the haters seem to have rusted themselves!! LOL! Im still waiting for the viscous, mocking argument against my builds that two well known people here enjoy to post."
That my goodman was the first hint of hostility in this thread, and you started it!! Again! I am not going to bust your chops, but damn, dude relax, you make it look like you want this crap to start.. all was going well until you popped off with that crap.. Just keep it pleasant and so will others..
What is outside this thread is outside this thread, dont bring it in here if you dont want it in here..
geeze
