Default Losi mini rock crawler V.S. duratrax cliff climber

I was thinking about getting into the hobby of rockcrawling and was wondering what was a better truck the duratrax cliff climber or the Losi mini rock crawler? I do have experince in rc airplanes and rc monstertrucks.

The Losi is a shafty and the Duratrax has Clod type axles. If you are looking at getting into crawling then go with the Axial AX10, it is a great crawler and has a full line of after-market support.

You can use any battery you want for it, from a 6cell NIMH (for the 1/10 vehicles) to a 6-12cell NIMH (for the 1/18 vehicles) to lipos. It really all depends on how you want to mount the battery.

What about a 6 cell nimh from a 1/10 scale monster truck, how would you mount that?

It would mount where I have the red lipo battery.

Or if you dont want to upgrade every part on your RTR Axial, get a Himoto Rock Crusher.

Why would he need to upgrade anything if he gets the Axial AX kit?

One thing though is that the losi comes with a nice 2.4 radio and is small enough to climb indoors.

Thats why I said RTR version. The RTR version needs ALOT of upgrades to be decent. The kit is a lot better and comes with aluminun parts.

But after buying all the parts for the kit it would be a little expensive.

But why is the cliff climber not good? It is cheaper then the rest but it has rear steer and each wheel has a different motor.

Remember that thread a few weeks back someone commented "A person asks for an opinion on X vs. Y and someone else always chimes in with get Z." This reminds me of that thread.

There's probably nothing wrong with the CC. Check out rccrawler.com forums, each of those models has their own whole forums with owners of both of those.

But at the moment the MRC has the bigger aftermarket support seeing as the competition world favors that model and rules are based around the specs of that model.

who buys the RTR expecting it to be a crawler?

it says right on the freggin box "ROCK RACER"

if you want a 10th scale Buy a kit man.

Berg, Axial, or the tamiya.

But to answer your actual question which had nothing to do with most of your answers, go Losi MRC.

Himoto must be a winning a lot of comps, nowhere near me, lol

Dude dont take it personally, its only a toy. When comparing Axial RTR or even the KIT to the Himoto RTR, I think the Himoto will win, but honestly I could care less. Your getting more bang for the buck when getting the Himoto. And btw they are all Chinese, Taiwanese, whatever made.

I just bought a Losi MRC and I am awesome so I would get one of those.

Seriously, there is a crawler course that I frequent and it is better suited for 1/18 IMO. I can't wait to get my MRC... My PTI Goliath has 0 rock crawling capability at all.

losi mini. they have just as much aftermarket as the axials and are set up very well for a rtr.
Mods you will need (in this order)
1. metal diff lockers(2x $12)
2. new tires (blue bashers or blue claws) (2x $17)
3. metal center diff locker ($12)

run it like that for a while then mod as you feel comfortable with.

CC is a toy and can't even compare to the crawling ability of the losi mini
