Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler Project
While im currently working on my Traxxas Slash after it took a beating and waiting for the parts to come in i decided to jump on a different ship and order me a present for my bday, the Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler JK, Im going to try and make this thing pretty realistic and see what i can do with the videography to make it look realistic.
For now some upgrades will be simple, the roof cover, a scale driver action figure , some wheel wells, some fuel tanks, a roof rack and some accessories to go with it, then to get her waterproof, marine lube gears and axles etc etc and then dirty time!! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...pszrymjhfl.jpg |
Very cool nickt916. the sxc10 is a fun truck. enjoy some trailing.

Well, Happy Birthday, Nick! You'll have a lot of fun with the scx10, sooooo many options and accessories!, My 1/6 Jeep is basically an scx10.

thanks guys!!
Mr Fisher had some backyard adventure testing. Its nothing fancy, and the battery im going to put on the front because its lack of climbing things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4LSRAbchZ4 |
nice run. there fun to play with. yep the battery in the front is the way to go. it really does help with climbing.
|
i relocated the battery to the front and it climbs so much better now!! :) here is a before and after results

there ya go much better now and for a little more weight down low get some crawl/ beef/ burly tubes. got to do a little work to fit them but not much and it will help even more.

Weight up front is good, but like Rusted mentioned, you want to get it down low. You also want to have a balanced rig. Too much weight in front is good for climbing, but eventually you have to come down. A moving vehicle with too much weight up front and mounted high, will put you into a tumble going downhill. Get yourself a set of beadlocks, and/or add some weight to the wheels themselves.
On my Frankenstein SCX10, I run Axial beadlocks and I've got 2.5 oz of weight in each front rim, plus another ounce of weight attached to the top of my axle mounted servo, and the battery is mounted out in back. The 1/6 Jeep has the weight in the wheels and on the servo, and running the battery behind the front suspension, but the weight behind where the the motor is mounted is balanced. I have the spare, a battery for the taillights, and the rollcage. The Jeep weighs 13lbs. Both rigs are balanced so that there is equal weight on both sides of the skid. |
thanks that helped a lot, before i saw your reply what i did was just relocate my plate to the front and zip tied it to the body posts/shock towers, to have the plate elevated higher, because the servo was hitting it during compression. here is a little video i made of before and after the battery relocation, and at the end of the video you can see what how i zip tied it, its temporary for now :)

The servo does hit the battery tray when the suspension flexes but you can get creative and do something like make some extensions for under the tray. maybe take a pen apart and cut it to raise the tray up a bit or something similar. i had that problem so i made a battery tray from some sheet metal. it holds all my electronics up front radio box, ESC, wireless winch controller and the battery. i have my battery sitting length wise behind the front tires. helps to keep the COG lower.

picked up a black painted body on ebay for $40, its not a hard body sadly, but its not a big deal. Ill be repainting it from the outside, will be doing an interesting design with this one... something you all see driving around the streets and it brings you joy and happiness when they come over to your house :)

Wow the scenery where you live is beautiful. I wish I lived there. Nothing but bald prairie here -.- but anyway, that SCX-10 looks great man! If you havent beefed up the steering with metal links yet definitely do that. It made a huge difference. Also if you got the RTR it doesn't tell you in the instructions but the box came with all the parts you need to 4 link the front suspension.

cool video nickt916. it's crawling around real good.
when you 4 link the front you will get more out of the suspension. you'll notice a difference after you do it. |
trying something new :) havent seen anyone be a UPS truck, so i jumped on the idea
