RE: mini crawler

well a mini-t is a nice truck but it is not a 4wd so i would not make a crawler out of that, unless u can find a way to make it 4wd. and the only othere truck that i would make a crawler that is a mini would have to be a Vwmon Mini Giant. those are prety nice little truck. the only reason i would not use a LTL-1 is cause te diff is so low to the grow.

I have been thinking of a mini-crawler for a while too. I guess I am waiting to see if there is any more news about the PTI Micro Monster I read about on wildhobbies.

I just asked google, but there didnt seem to be any more news.

Does anyone know anything?

RE: mini crawler

check out the wlamart "extreme crawlers" there non rc belt driven straight axle trucks.

They crawl very well And with a little fabrication could be turned into a proportional rc.

If you want to stick to already made kits I would go for the tlt it has endless possibility's the axles are perfect for a small crawler ounce you get over the chassis ground clearance problem

also ahab check out [link=http://www.one18th.com/forums/showthread.php?s=e2ec32efdb9a6559d84cb12cdc0b1bbb& threadid=3382]this[/link]

When I spoke to PTI's reps "in person" at 2003 Hobby Visions, they informed me December. At 2004 RCX, the reps didn't even want to talk about a release date for the Micro Monster. Consequently, that 30 days has been 9 months. When it's in the local hobby shops, I believe it has been released. Then there is probably another matter of replacement parts.

Here's my Kyosho Mini-Z-Overland. It may be small, but it's big for its size and I figured that I could learn the basics a "little" at a time. Perhaps, I'll get a larger "crawler" for outside later--something larger than the OL and Mini-Giant anyway.

Here is a newer photo of my Overland after I put Monster wheels and tires on it.

<shrugs> All I know is i sent them a mail asking to be put on their mailing list and they replied with this on the 7th of July....

We are hoping to ship in 30 to 45 days. We had problems converting the protoype axle to aluminum, and lots of problems with vendors keepping there commitments. But I think we are on track finally.
We hope to have test shots of the new axle some time this week we will then be able to put some new proto type together and the pictures will go up on the web site soon after.

So if you can wait a couple of more weeks, you should be able to get a better view of our truck, and I know you'll be glad you waited.

...but you may have a point, believe it when I see it, but it is enough to put me off th TLT for another month or so.

Keyword being "hoping". I will be attending this year's Hobby Visions Convention October 7-10, 2004. I could speak with the reps then "again" if the PTI Micro Monster Truck is not released if PTI exhibits--A quick review of the exhibitor list fails to show PTI Racing at this time ( http://www.hobbyvisions.com/exhibitor_list2.php ). However, I'm at that point where I believe "why even bother" to ask. Perhaps, when PTI adds those new photos to its website, it will also change the date on the index page which still has "15 October 2003" and add a firm release date. [sm=rolleyes.gif]

I think the Mini Z monster would be a good starter, just because it's 4WD and is easy to access the parts inside.... the susp, and such....

The Kyosho Mini-Z MMT is "not" 4WD; however, the Venom Mini-Giant is 4WD. That's the VMG behind the Mini-T.

I modified the shocks off of one of those and installed them on one of my Kyosho Overlands (pictured above).

mtrchamp,
I've checked into the TLT-1. Ultimate Hobbies currently has them listed at $119.95 including free shipping. However, I'm also looking into another 1/5th scale, another LiPo charger, another brushless motor.... Get the idea? A crawler is kind of far down the line, but it is still in the back of my mind. ;)

yeah I get it, I'm jsut saying... I didn't say, "Go get one now!", it's just a statment. I want one too, but I need to get my Ultima Racer running again, my sandmaster, and my crawler project off the ground....

RE: mini crawler

I got a reply email from someone I know who builds crawlers, owns some crawlers and has some friends who own the TLT-1. Let's put it this way, I purchased more hop-up parts for my Kyosho Mini-Z-MMT (pictured above) and ordered another Kyosho Mini-Z-F1 tonight. Perhaps, that PTI truck will be released by the time I quit buying other odds and ends for my two dozen plus R/C cars.

I would go with th Venom Mini Giant. Its 4WD, can be converted to 4-link, great out of the box.

RE: mini crawler

Although I own a VMG, I like to tinker more with my Overland. Here is the latest WIP photo.
