Thinking about a CLOD
I was thinking about buying a clod buster to give me somethhing to build during the winter months.
Is it a cool truck to get if I am NOT going to convert to a crawler? I am looking to use more for a basher. I cannot beieve the truck is still being made after all these years. I guess it is pretty good..right ? -w |
RE: Thinking about a CLOD
I just got one myself, but it is the Super ClodBuster. I think the First one is no longer made, and from all accounts it's the same truck just a new look. I haven't built mine yet, I think I will keep it stock, should be fine stock for you want to do.:D

RE: Thinking about a CLOD
stock will get boring really quick... 9mph top speed ( says xtreme rc mag) ... and it looks kind of toyish
but it will be fun for the first battery pack... |
RE: Thinking about a CLOD
I am suprised I did not get more hits on this thread
I would of thought more crawlin dudes would know about the clod |
RE: Thinking about a CLOD
You will have fun with it for a while, but... its kinda slow and hanles poorly, also it doesn't look very good with all its plastic suspension links and crappy plastic shocks, I think the only thing a clodbuster is good for is a donor for a rockcrawling project, the axles are awesome, and there are an unlimited amount of aftermarket parts, if you want to buy a clod just for playing around with I would suggest getting a txt instead, its alot better out of the box and crawls pretty good to, thats just my 2 cents,

RE: Thinking about a CLOD
That is another thing I do not understand....
Why buy a whole Clod just for the axles ?? Why are they so good? cant you just buy the Axles by themselves for a crawler project? |
RE: Thinking about a CLOD
The original Clodbuster axle design can be totally self-contained. They have a motor mount, so the drivetrain is very compact and simple, and the steering servo can be attached to the gear case. Because the motor and steering components are all mounted together, they need only be attached by shocks and 2 or 4 suspension links to the chassis. This results in almost unlimited suspension flexibility and travel. With all of the aftermarket parts available, you can build a unique crawler without even using any original Tamiya parts.

RE: Thinking about a CLOD
also, ive read up a bit and you can get just the axles for around 140 bucks (crawlerstore) or a kit that would have a few spare parts if you were to just use the axles for 190 bucks. [8D]
