Its on the traxxas home page(traxxas.com) Its called the summit. watching the promo now :) EDIT: looks interesting. Has independent suspension with 2 speeds 1st has a 70:1 Ratio And 2nd has a 25:1 ration for normal driving. The best part: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Diffs Lock and unlock via switch on the TX. |
RE: Seen This yet.
Yes it is pretty cool so far. There is a thread in the MT forum with some more information.

RE: Seen This yet.
what do you think about the suspension?
|
RE: Seen This yet.
I personally prefer solid axles, but it still appears promising. Seems as if it would make a great cruiser for those home-built courses or some general exploring around.

Not a crawler.

RE: Seen This yet.
looks SOOOOO awsome.... not a competition crawler, but I would go sa far as to say it will perform at least as well as a RTR scorpion.... the remote locking diffs and remote shifted two speed.... Oh man, I was saving for an e-revo... but this just hit the top of my list!!!

RE: Seen This yet.
I think its cool, and could lead to some amazing types of racing (starts out normal but ends with a high tension crawl to the finish). And its good for people that want to crawl some but dont need a dedicated truck for it. I am not planning on getting though, because it is believed traxxas will announce a Mini E-REVO and Mini slayer soon.

Crawler???

RE: Seen This yet.
I like this one. Being able to go from fast to slow, lock -unlock diffs at the flip of a switch, looks like this could be alot of FUN !!!!! You all remember what that is dont ya??????

RE: Seen This yet.
After watching the vid, I seem to think it can crawl. I cant go over logs and go up stairs with any of my other MTs.......

RE: Seen This yet.
looks pretty cool, looks like it will make for a great basher/part time crawler, a bit pricey however...

I heard tower always lowers the price on stuff like this when they get it in stock. I hope they do because i wanna see reviews and videos of it.

Best description Ive heard yet: "Jack of all trades, master of none."

RE: Seen This yet.
ORIGINAL: The Mad Modder ORIGINAL: dezfan Not a crawler. The #1 reason that in the 1:1 world a solid axle crawler is so much better than independent suspension, is that independent suspension truck have so little articulation. A well set up solid axle jeep can easily have 40+ inches of axle articulation (meaning, if you have a rock 40 inches tall, you could drive over it with just one wheel, and the wheel on the other side would stay on the ground) Most stock independent suspension setups will give less than a foot of articulation, with the vast majority having around 5-8" and adding a suspension lift doesn't automatically increase articulation like it does in a solid axle truck. The Problem? Short suspension arms.... the arms have to be short, so that the engine oil pan can hang down as far as possible, for a lower CG, plus shorter arms are easier to make strong than longer ones.... One vehicle that doesn't have this issue as much is a hummer H1, with 18 inches of wheel travel, it far surpasses any other stock independent truck, and can actualy crawl, though definitely not as well as a solid axle truck. Here are some vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l0sMg8MH4M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjmRS...eature=related Its also worth noting that there have been several independent suspension rock crawlers.... The problem is you have to basically start from the ground up, since you cant just modify an existing design... and they still suffer from problem #2 In any case, the Revo design definitely doesn't have this shortfall, so its not a problem. Problem #2, and a very close follower to #1, is strength... independent suspension has some notoriously weak points... CV axle joints and steering components are the worst offenders.... They can be beefed up, but at great cost.. Again, the revo platform doesn't have this problem... SOOOOOOOOO..... I'm predicting this truck will kick some SERIOUS butt on the rocks..... And I would bet a lot of money it will win SOME competitions.... |

i want those remote locking diffs [>:]
|
RE: Seen This yet.
Yeah too bad they dont make solid axles with remote locking diffs, that would be awesome!!!! you could have front or rear dig, or front locked and the rear freewheel and vice versa, or all locked! from what i gathered off of one of the videos of the traxxas guy being interviewed on you tube, it does all those things.
EDIT: I bet its not long before we see those type of axles on the market. i would guess you could easily get $100 to $150 or more per axle. |
