Digg?

Me and a buddy just got a couple mini-crawlers and have been having a blast. One thing, from watching crawler vids on youtube I don't understand-

What is digg exactly? Is the rear axel stopped or is it free and in neither case is it powerd like the front?

I don't see or understand what advantage this is giving the truck?

With both axels solid the only issue I recognize at this point is the steering can be a problem when the rear tires are hooked up good since they tend to push the truck straight and resist turning either left or right.

Isearched here a bit and found nothing on the topic, I know some of you guys are running this function will be able to shed some light.

Thanks-

RE: Digg?

Dig is used to turn sharper. By locking up the rear wheels, and punching the gas, you can literally turn on a dime.

A dig setup usually has 3 modes:

4x4 - all wheels engaged and turning
Freewheel - rear driveshaft is disengaged allowing the rear wheels to freewheel while the fronts are still powered
Llocked - rear driveshaft is disengaged and "locked" so the rear wheels will not turn but te fronts still have power

To have all 3 modes, you need a 3-channel radio with a 3-position 3rd channel like the Spektrum DX3R.

Thanks KB,

I suspected there were several modes involved...

Are you talking the MRC you and a buddy have? I havent found any digs for the MRC but do have a 3 channel.
If so have you done any mods? What about the free mods?

RE: Digg?

We really are not wanting to add digg to the MRC I was just curious about the function, since I see that on a lot of the vids.

We each have put on different bodies and my buddy has added weight to the front wheels which makes his climb a little better. I have been dropping my front driveshaft since the day I got it and I finally LOSTthe pin the last time in the deep leaves. I have yet to fix that, otherwise we both agree that the are holding up pretty well for the size and cost. It is too bad they don't sell them as a bind and drive for a bit less money, since we each already had transmitters.

We have a few vids on youtube with linkss fron rcu if anybody is interested. His IDis foodstick.

I also lost my pin so I used a body clip and cut and bent to hold. So far it has worked great.
I've moved all the elec down on the 3link using a old body to make shelves to hold them. Cutting the battery trey out. Mounted my lipo to the rear and added a big standard servo to help power the steering. Had to make a servo plate till I can buy a nice one..lol I have 3 sets of tires and wheels to play around and see what works. Today I'm going to try no foams and see if that helps more. Also limited my shocks by 1/2 inch tubing internally. Just with these easy free mods this thing climbs better then stock.
