NJGB - Saying Hello with First Crawler

Hey fellas, first time poster here and first time getting into crawling with an RC.

So I bought an Exceed MaxStone 8 and love it. hehehe Iknow it's not an Axial and that's fine with me and my 3yo nephew. Ihave heard the parts arguement but have all the part #s and have already found two sources for stock replacement parts. I am not interested in competition in the least bit. I have 40 acres of mountainous NJ wildnerness and plan to crawl on my property for fun with the little nephew as a flipper overer.

Anyways, I wanted to say hi and post some pics of my new crawler. I'll post some new pics from our outing this weekend where the truck will see actual rocks.

Here it is:

Nice lookin rig. Keep in mind that in addition to the stock replacement parts you found...you could most likely use a lot of existing aftermarket parts if you wanted to. I have a similar rig (redcat rs10) and a lot of axial parts fit on it...I imagine they might fit on your rig too.

Thanks guys, I hope to have fun with this truck and am open to using some upgrades when stuff breaks. I have heard that most of the axial 1/8 parts should bolt right on, honestly I do already have ideas of rear steer and bigger motors, maybe some nice soft squishy tires too. But this thing is tons of fun already. I took it out back today for it's first real rock crawling and it did fine, it looks like a real truck and handles some gnarly stuff with ease. Only the outrageous stuff is too hard and I don't expect it to climb vertical walls. I have some pics and even a vid or two I can post up tonight when I get home.

Happy Crawling!!

Looks good, try limiting your articulation on each side to about 1 pop can high [8D] Overly articulating a rig is a huge problem ;)

Hey NJGreenBudd,

Great pics! I posted some stuff on yourtube of mine here.

I lovemy maxstone8 too. My buddy bought the Integy iRock and it's the same truck, except the maxstone8 has BETTER parts and the maxstone8 has a longer wheel base and slightly larger tires. I've added 4 wheel steering to mine now using Integy branded parts (same part#'s as the irock from rcplantet)and it works great, not to mention I've spent less than I would have with the Integy and got a better rig.

-To add 4 wheel steering to the maxstone8: (This allows your crawler to have 4 wheel steering all time)
Integy Servo Plate iRock
Integy Steering Link for iROCK
Integy Steering Servo Mount iROCK
Hi Torq metal gearservo
Servo Y connector

-To add the 4 steering modes to the Maxstone8 like on theIntegy iRock, RS10, or Supercrawler add this radio:

best,

Eastmen Lake in central California- this is my mod maxstone8. try adding a pound to each wheel useing stick on wheel weights. Yoyu can also take the foam insert out of the tires and cut the chanfer of the sides this will make the tire grab better when climbing.
