I feel you excitement, Luis! Congratulations. First thing you need to do is mix up some slow cure epoxy and pour around the keel area inside your boat. Let that cure good and hard to reinforce the keel area. Then go to step 9 in your instruction and epoxy ALL AROUND that insert for the keel slot. USE FAST EPOXY for this Be SURE you get in in facing the right way. Once you squish it into the slot, some epoxy will oooze out around it. Wipe this off as best you can and then with the metal keel tube in place inside the boat, stick your boat's keel up thru the hole and out the top of the boat. Screw it down good and tight and set the boat aside for ten of 15 minutes. Then come back and take your keel out and clean it up if any epoxy got on it.

By this time you can start trimming the plastic flashing off around the boat.......then you can sand everything down nice and smooth. Wet and dry 400 grit will make short work of it. When you get close, change to wet/dry 600 grit. Some of the keel piece you put into the bottom of the boat will need sanding down flush with the hull as well. Smooth the boat up till it suits you, then wash and dry with light dishwashing detergent and you're ready to paint. You may wish to sand everything lightly with 1000 grit. That's fine too. Just when you're ready......paint it.

I think it's a LOT easier to paint a boat first and build it later. Just be careful and neat with your build and you won't mess up the paint.

I suggest you review SNJ excellent photos on this site about his Seawind build. He gives a good view of the step by step.
If you have any questions ask here or on the Seawind Resource Center.

Have fun! I'm not sure which is better........building them or sailing them.

Nice choice with the seawind. They are a great boat. Mine is 2 1/2 years old and still going strong.

Looks good, Ice. Be sure and keep your parts together or better yet, in their individual bags! The instructions don't tell you what part to go get as much as they just tell you go to Bag 3 & 4. Duh???????? It can get confusing. Staying well organized will save you a lot of grief putting the Seawind together and right now parts may be hard to find if you lose anything.

Can't wait to see her when she's painted!

Till the paint dries. DON'T RUSH........no matter how tempting.

Ice, I can't see why your new hatch arrangement wouldn't work. If you'll get some little rubber "O" rings to go around the bolts and the hatch it seems like it would be impervious to leaks. Only weak spot is the little gap where you had to split the rubber seal to get it around the hatch and I can't see much of anything ever getting in that either. I think you're building a good boat. Just keep taking your time and thinking out your moves and in a few days you and this bad boy are going to be on the water!!!!!!! Yes.

We're anxious to see it on the water, Ice...but I know you are to. [8D] Maybe to can finish this weekend if paint allows. Get your batteries charging. You'll need them before much longer.
