Fibreglass hull, need help to identify.
I have just aquired a fibreglass hull only, no deck or hardware.
It is 1.225m long and 24.5cm wide.
I don't know what type of hull it is or exactly how old it is, but I know it is more than 30 years old as I got it from my Grand father and my Nana said he bought it on or around my 13th birthday and I am now 44 years old.
I need to find out the hull type so I can set it up and get it going.
I don't have pics yet but will post them as soon as I can take some.
Seems pointless to post now without pics but I am just so excited that I can't wait.
I have had many boats but never a sailboat, so all info will be appreciated.
Pics coming soon.
Regards Brettos.

RE: Fibreglass hull, need help to identify.
That appears to me to be a "Classic" Marblehead design. The Vintatge Model Yacht group might be able to nail it down tighter, and of course the new interest in the "Vintage Marblehead" racing would be even better. I forget if they are on R/C Sailing or WINDPOWER but there is an active discussion going on about these boats so you should have plenty of input from them.
Nice look boat to be sure... they were really going for the J Class lines.

Hey Larry.
I Had a look at some Marbleheads and it looks like the stern is different to mine.
Any other ideas?
Also I registered with Windpower and it says that I have a problem when I try to log in, contact the admin.
I can't contact admin unless I am logged in. When I try to re-register it says the username is allready being used. #%@* what a poo. Totally useless.

They re-did Windpower about 6 months back.... and it took me a while to get back in... I forget what the trick was.... you had to sign in with something like TEST or something silly such as that... I will ask and see. If you give me your sign in name and email address I will have the admin contact you with the instructions.
Well.. there are always possibilities as to which model it is. Your best bet is to find some markings inside the hull... they can be in the darndest places and faded out... usually glassed in... that is the best way.
Other than that... keep checking with the Vintage Marblehead guys, and I will keep nosing around.

RE: Fibreglass hull, need help to identify.
The length and profile do not reflect Marblehead design thoughts as the transition from full keel to fin and bulb was happening at that time. Plus, the overhangs are very excessive compared to a vintage Marblehead. It could possibly be a 10 Rater or a One Design hull. Have you contacted the ARYA? http://www.radiosailing.org.au/

RE: Fibreglass hull, need help to identify.
Hi,
Maybe you folks can help me identify this 1 meter boat. It appears to have been a kit boat. The beam is about nine inches and the mast is about 61 inches tall. There are three servos with the third being used for the back stay tension. The deck appears to be a thin wood ply and very handsome. It has a removable lazzeret which is handy. The Keel bulb is unique it looks like a 58 chevy hood ornament. The keel stab is aluminum and is very wide. The mast is wood and was original. I don't have the original sails, the sails in the picture I out of Clearphane. The chain plates and deck hardware appear to be made from brass, the boom vang is very simple with eyelets and a simple bar connecting them.
Okay now someone chime in and tell me what it is and that they have 3 in their shop.
Rick
