HELP! Tall ships in 1/34-1/38 scale
Hey whats up
Anyways, I am building an RC 16th century galleon from scratch, to use in mock battles: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4984659/tm.htm[/link]
Everything is ok so far. But the problem is, I need other ships for it to battle against, and I don't really want to start building another one fromn scratch at the same time. So I thought, maybe there were some model kits from the general time period that were in the same scale as my ship (1/36 scale) that I could convert to RC. I also thought I could learn from the smaller parts on the models so I could make my ship more detailed.
Problem is, I can't find any kits for sailing ships (not modern sailboats) in or around the scale I started building the ship at. They are either far too small or too large. I could use pretty much anything from the 14th to the 17th century, from a small cutter or schooner to a man-of-war, cargo ship, frigate or another galleon. I just can't find any that are in between 1/34 to 1/38 scale.
Plank-on-bulkhead or plank-on-frame wood kits would be fine, or even plastic or solid hulls. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me out a kit like this.

hi i have a plan of the bluenose schooner you can have it blown up to any size you like its in pdf format.im planning to build it next year sometime.it has all the frames so you just need to size them to the correct size and print them or take them to your print shop and let them do it.it has every detail needed masts sails all the bits and the cabins etc.let me know and send me your email and ill send you a copy.heres a pic of one at my local lake it was built using a plywood profile of the hull and a ply deck lined with planks, then cardoard frames were cut and glued in place then the spaces filled with foam blocks and sanded to shape and glassed over. heres a link to the build.[link]http://www.john-dowd.co.uk/[/link]!![img][/img]

Yeah, that would be awesome if you could send me the Bluenose plans, I have been planning to build a schooner next because the easier-to-control fore/aft rigging would be a lot less of a nightmare to get working properly than the square rig on my galleon.
Even though the Bluenose looks a fair bit quicker to build than a galleon, I am still looking for any tall ship model kits from 1/34-1/38 scale.
If anybody knows of any kits (even static display models) at this size please point them out to me.

Thanks for the plans martno1fan!
I am gonna enjoy building that one. The rigging diagrams are quite helpful, I don't have that for my galleon.
I'll probably start a build thread for it as soon as I finish the second layer of planking on my main project.

I'm probably going to do it plank-on-frame. Scale I try to build my models at is 1/36, or one inch to the yard. The real Bluenose was 49 meters long in total so it should end up being about a 4-footer.
I checked out that site you posted, that build looks awesome. Did you see these pics of the model sailing? Looks almost real. His is about seven feet long though.
