Hi all,
Wondering whether anyone has the line drawings for a Volvo 70. I'm starting to plan to build a Volvo 70 approx 1.2m long but don't necessarily trust my own design skills!!
Thanks,
Dave

Hi all,
In one of my picture albums with is online, you can see a final result of a volvo 70. I build this ABN-AMRO-1 with the use of the drawings from http;//www.velarc.it. As you can see on the pictures it is a nice looking model. It is also sailing very good and easy. I hope you like the pictures.

Wow, there were some pretty boats on that link! Is that Jboat putting around, and very nice squareriggers too! It must be nice to have people to sail with that can build such fine boats!

I've asked for the plans from the site, but not got a response yet. It's only been since last week though, so maybe he takes a while. How long did you wait Grant?
Also blackfemmie, your boat looks great. Do the plans recommend a hull construction? I am thinking balsa plank, and fibreglass on the outside, resin on the inside.

Hey, I got my plans and build logs from Francesco. I think he must do a weekly or fortnightly mailout, because there were a lot of names on the email. (thanks to Steve too, for the preview files.
).
I've rescaled the Ericsson plans down to a 1:25 scale boat, and printed them out. Francesco's build logs are great. I can't understand Dutch, but the pictures are worth 1000 words. Great canting keel mechanism.
Anyway, I have lots of questions about boat building now, but I'll start a new thread for that. If anyone wants to join in the project, I'd love to have some company along the way and someone to share ideas with. Anyway, like I said, look for the other thread. I'll call it "Building a Volvo 70"...

Hello All,
I have a long time not posted, but yesterday i tought that it was a great day for some RC-SAILING with my VOLVO-70. When I arrived at the sailinglocation there was only one lttle problem, there was very litle wind. Whit some other friends we tried some Sailing, what was going very slow. But our photographer took some very nice shots. Here you can see some pictures of My ABN-AMRO-1 and some other nice Ships. http://www.hmbc.nl/nedframe.html

Hey blackfemmie, nice photos! Your boat has a nice level of detail on it - I hope mine looks as good someday. I've glassed the hull and deck, and I'm working on the keel and rudder, so it's coming along slowly. Looks like your club has a few nice boats in it, and some keen modellers. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Good to see more nice work from you, although it's a pity to see the ABN boat disappear underneath the new colours. It was a great boat. I've got a couple of questions for you if you don't mind...
What did you use for the white lettering on the hull? If they are decals, are they printed by yourself or someone else?
What did you use for the lettering on the sail? Did you screen print them, or use something stick-on? I'm almost getting to the sails myself, and was planning to screen print them, but if there's an easier or better way, I will take it.
Thanks again for the great pics. Keep up the good work, and I hope we can see it finished in the new colours soon!

The material i used for lettering on the hull is SOLARTRIM, and i made the lettering by myself. I found the dellta-lloyd logo on internet, resized it and printed it out. After that i pasted the letters on the solartrim, cut the letters out and placed them on the hull. I did the same with the front side of the boat. (next weekend i made some better photo's, because this weekend we had very to bad weather outside to make good photo's). When my sail is ready(next week?), i am going to do the same.

It is really unfortunate that the webmaster of velarc.it has stopped responding to the requests for his plans. I would love to get my hands on them as well. Would anyone be so kind?

I am looking to get into RC sailing and love the look of the open 70 boats. I requested plans from Vela RC but just read they are no longer responding to requests? Can you send me a copy of the plans? Thanks. My e-mail is [email protected] .

Plans sent. If anyone else wants the ones I have, I have uploaded them to a free file sharing website, filefactory.com. You can grab them all or just the one you want. ABN Amro I and II, Illbruck and Ericsson are there now. Here is the folder:

I have tried to get a copy of the Ericsson Volvo 70 plans but never get any reply. Has anyone got a copy they could send me? Cheers Steve.
