Theres a gentleman named Hoghappy that has a club in Montgomery. Not sure how far you are from there. His club is listed on the AMYA site.

I've spent some time in the Dothan - Enterprise area, saw lots of rc flying but don't recall seeing any decent places to sail.

I guess 80 miles would be a little to far for a weekend sail, but it would be nice for a holiday trip! Perhaps you could start your own club in your area. If I can find sailors in the land locked state like Nebraska; I am sure you could find plenty in your area. Seriously, it worth a try. Hog and I started ours out about the same time. I directed him to the orgsites for a free website set up and we been helping each other out since. You can see my club site at http://www.orgsites.com/ne/omahaboatclub. If you need some help drop me a PM!

I'm up here in Phenix City, drop me a line because Lake Eufaula is good, except for the alligators in places.
