Sailboat radio rig
Help Needed;
I would like to know about the type of elastic as tention for the sailwinch (sheets). I have never used it and need information on the type of elastic and how to rig it.
Thanks
Steven

RE: Sailboat radio rig
The short answer to your question is 'hat elastic' from a fabric shop.
To rig it, I assume that you have a drum type winch.
Lead the line off the drum, onto the deck and back to a turning block. Bring the line forward to full out position. Cut the line and tie it to a ring fastner (a small split ring will do). Tie a piece of elastic ( a couple of inches) to the fastner and tie that to another piece of line going back to the drum. Put some tension on the elastic when you tie off the return line at the drum.
Now, when you move the winch, the elastic keeps tension on the line and keeps it on the drums.
Now tie off your main and jib sheets to the fastner and the other ends to the respective booms.
With this arrangement you can use an elastic band and replace if it breaks.
