SAILBOAT CONSTRUCTION HELP DECK TO HULL
The Dumas kit I'm working on from the 70's or earlier wants the deck to be mounted to the hull using Fiberglass Resin. This would mean if anything happened to the Keel or rudder mount I wouldn't be able to get inside to fix the problem. Is there a better way to mount the deck without sealing it together permanently? See pics from instructions. Maybe brass screws or brass brads??? Thanks Ron |
Hi Ron, If it were I building I would lay out on the deck where you would need access and build up the area around it below deck. I would then cut a hatch opening and cover with sail tape type cloth. If you need access then simply peel tape off, perform whatever maintenance you need to and apply a new cover.
