Robbe Atlantis In Drydock
 

I am new to this forum so bear with me as a learn to navigate within. I have in my care an Atlantis model in early stages of construction. I am not he owner. It is for the wife of a deceased husband who didn't get too far with it.She would dearly love to see it completed. I have plans and instructions, such as they are. Sadly parts are missing. The short list of missing parts is: masts, bulkwarks, stanchions, life boat, air horns/vents, ships wheel. I came across a Genoa kit that is complete but it would only solve one of the missing mast problems. I realize this query is a "call out in the darkness" as Robbe is out of business. Krick has bought them out but is not developing this product at this time. Anyone know of a hobby shop or individual or supplier that might have parts?

Masts can be carefully selected dowel or aluminium tube from a DIY store.
The other parts tend to be generic items that are available with some shopping around from various model shops if you know the required size of the items. About 10 seconds of googling produced this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/14157...8466455&crdt=0 - for stanchions. Ex-Robbe. They might even be the right height and pattern.
I doubt that you will find bulwarks. These will probably need building up from sheet and strip.

I find that the masts ( as I have the booms) are extruded aluminum with an aerodynamic shape and a slit down the aft side for threading of the sail.I would think this is a specialized item at 1:20 scale. I will try the web address you have supplied. I have concluded because of adhesive problems that the bulkwarks will have to be fashioned from wood and applied molding.I realize that my requests are a reach as this kit is out of production for some 6 years. Many thanks.

Wow, I just received an e-mail from Krick Manufacturing in Germany. They apparently bought out the Robbe business when it went "belly up". The masts will be included in a shipment to Ages of Sail in California who I had contacted some weeks prior with little hope they would be able to help. Wonders never cease.

The masts described are "groovy", and fairly common among the racing crowd. If Krick had been unable to help it would just become a question of figuring what size is wanted and getting the nearest. Probably something appropriate to a Marblehead type, since the loadings will be similar. It is possible to rig a sail intended for a groovy mast to a standard one. Of course, any fittings would also be intended for the groovy mast.
Robbe did a whole bunch of extras for the Atlantis including roller reffing and an auxiliary retractable prop. One of my club members from a lot of years ago had one - a super sight out on the water. But BIG.

Folks in the UK and Europe seem to be so much more attuned to this pleasurable past time. I am heartened by the responses. I would also add the widow is as excited as it means so much to her. Thank you for the input.

You are certainly correct that this model is BIG! I had to mount it on a rolling shop cart so it is easily moved to work on/out of the way. I have applied mahogany trim around all deck fixtures and the outside edge of the deck. I am awaiting boxwood to fill in the open area. I made the bulkwarks out of maple as I didn't have much faith in being able to obtain these elsewhere. I have to do an inventory of the parts I have on hand. They are still in the plastic bags.

Quite by accident I came across a complete genoa kit in the dusty cubbyhole of a local hobby shop. I purchased it but I am now thinking that with Krick's fulfillment of the masts I will resell it.
