1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

Here's some pics from today's maiden voyage of my Seawind

Sorry for the pics, next time I will take a good digital camera

I had to do some minor changes, like changing the baterie placement. I put it behind of the radio tray.

;)

Enjoy

Best regards,

ICE

Ice, looks good. I had my maiden voyage last week. Now you and I just have to get some stick time. I like the black paint job, I think my next boat will be black.

Hi Luis,

The boat looks very good!

Could you keep up with the Victoria I saw in the background...?

Regards, Jan.

Nice one - What is it like to sail? - What was the wind like?

Ice, I've been worried about you and wondering how your boat was coming along. From the looks of you Seawind, I shouldn't have worried. It looks like a well done job you can be proud of. Sharp looking!

As for the wind, it looks like you didn't have any.[:o] But that's just as well for a maiden voyage. I hope everything is staying nice and dry inside. What did you end up doing about your hatch cover?

I don't know if it's just the angle of the photograph or what, but to me your boat looks "down in the front." You mentioned moving your battery to the rear. Perhaps the battery was forward when the pics were taken. For me, not that I know anything, I like the center of gravity as far aft as I can get it on the seawind.

Keep the reports coming!

Hi all,

First of all, thank you for your nice words

Pecos, the pictures were taken before the change to the batteries and "yes" there was little or no wind for our sailboats. But the Seawind managed to sail better and faster then any other sailboats on the lake.

Was it the sails, was it the hull shape or the professional skipper (LOL) ... I don't know.

But it was fun for all of us.

pompebled, the Victoria sailed very well. But side by side, the SeaWind sailed away from the Vic.

Tks all

ICE

PS: Next weekend, more pictures

Balance looks much better in my ignorant opinion, Ice. I will probably move up to a larger battery pack, which will be a little heavier yet. Although I don't want to overdo it and go too far in the opposite direction.

Well, Ice, you've gone from no wind to too much!:D You need a lake where it blows just right. I LOVE the F1 slash you've put on your hull. Really looks sharp. Good work.

Hi nutman,

Me, wife and son....

:(

Cheers,

You've got it all, Ice. Pretty wife. Pretty lake to sail on and a pretty boat. However, there is one danger...I think you wife may soon take your boat away from you. I suggest you get a second boat ordered SOON. I think you're about to be a sailing FAMILY.
Keep up the good work. jim

Hi Luis,

NEVER underestimate your wife!
She'll outsail you in no time...

Just kidding.

Have you ever ran your Voyager and the SW together?

I'm very curious how they compare.

Regards, Jan.

Hi pompebled,

I've just sold my Voyager to a friend of mine. So next week I just have something to tell you.

But, I think that they will be head to head.

The Voyager sails very well.

So next weekend, I should have some pics and comments for you.

Regarding my wife, I'm getting worried.... she told me now... "LuÃ*s, next time you let me sail more than you, ok ?"

Hummm

PANIC TIME !!!!

LOLOL

Cheers

ICE

RE: ICE's Seawind Maiden Voyage

Definately another Seawind in your future, Ice. But think what fun it will be to sail your Seawind beside your wife's. The big kids tell me THIS is the way to really tune and learn a boat. You start off with two equal boats and try this and that and you can sail them together and see what works and what doesn't.

In the just completed Seawind Region 4 Regatta, one of the competitors was a teenage girl who finished EVERY race and placed as high up as 8th in some of the races! One day the winds topped 20 MPH and the next day they were almost calm...so every skipper really had to prove they could handle both extremes!

I hope you and your wife have MANY happy hours sailing together.:)

Hello ICE, I have recently brought a SeaWind and it will be may first R/C boat build. Like the hull black hull design you did and was wondering whether you had sprayed the deck white? it doesnt seem to be the pre-build colour.

Did you have any problems sprsying the deck, have read a few posts about it being difficult to spray well. Did you spray the deck first and then the hull.

Any tips before I start would be welcome.

Mark
