I must confess, while I was debating the powerplant for my DH2, I went to Toledo two weeks ago and picked up a 1/3 scale BUSA pup kit and plans for a 1/3 scale Mick Reeves Camel. I am going to modify the pup kit into a Camel....Kit bashing... I love it!
I wanted to know if my DA150 would fit into the 1/3 scale fuselage, so I can swing a 36" scale prop. See the pics below and let me know what you think!

The last picture is a 32" prop. I'm getting one from Vogelsang in the 36" dimension.

So how much of the Pup kit do you imagine you'll be able to use? Seems to me you'd do so much "bashing" that there wouldn't be much left over. BTW, the engine/prop combo looks great. Is that the Mick Reeves dummy?

Well....good question. The way Barry and I figured was the BUSA kit was bigger in size than the Reeves ....so we would just cut it down...and change the obvious outline to the Camel.
It looks like we will use about 75% of the kit....
The engine is the one sold by Zoroli

At $350 the BUSA 1/3 Pup kit is a bargain. So, if you can even use 75% of it, it's well worth it. As you said, you'd be shortening the longerons, throwing out some of the wing ribs, and moving few things around, but it should work for a sport scale model. I've been tempted by the Pup as a test platform for my Seidel 770.

But don't neglect that DH2! Again, if it were me, I'd sure what a scalish engine and prop. Otherwise, why not just hang a paraglider engine (with cage) on the thing and go flying?

A special thanks goes out to DAVE JOHNSON! He gave me a heck of a deal on a brand new MOKI 215 RADIAL!!

So ABU there will be no "paraglider engine!".......... I also have 4 blade 28-16 PUSHER prop being made!

Now the Camel is going to the back burner and the DH 2 is moved to the front of the line!

I will be receiving this engine at the HDP over Labor Day weekend.....

Will post pics shortly after! RECAP: 1/2 scale DH2 with a Moki 215cc RADIAL and a 28-16 four blade prop!![8D][8D]

Great News Paul. I talked to Barry Yesterday and hopefully this weekend will have my 1/2 Scale DVII fuse all welded up and can start posting pics. If I use all the 80 ft of tubing I ordered and got in it will weigh 12 lbs which isnt too shabby for a 1/2 scale fuse. I got 1 side almost finished just have to cut all the peices that fit together for the lower wing saddle area and weld them in then I can start on the other side which should go much faster. I was slowed down waiting for my tig welder I got a miller dynasty 200 in to do all the welding. if you gonna weld fuses might as well use the caddilac of welders.

I thinks "Bones " really likes his new engine....it sounds pretty bad ass!

I'm not THAT far ahead! [:-]

If you think I'm fast you should see Jeff. He got all the wings for his Starstrutter framed up since he got back from Dayton, and he also started into his damaged triplane. (I don't think he sleeps much)

It sort of reminds me of the restoration shop at the Shuttleworth Collection! There's a lot of builds going on simultaneously. Paul does this mean that if Art & Jim will have their DH-2's ready for OPD 2012, that you'll have your DH2 ready by ODP 2012 as well??? No pressure....

I have been helping my B.I.L with his 60% Demoselle....(the wheels look familiar?) He is electronically challenged.... sooo I told him I would post these on the web. This is just to show a sneak peak on another 1/2 scale project from ODP...This is only 1 of 2 planes coming out from the Birdman (#2 is a 1/2 scale Wright Flyer)
The plans were blown up from the small electric Demi on the ping pong table.

Remember this guy?
Well here is a sneek peek at his 2nd build........
