What does "cut" mean? Does this mean the pilot chose not to fly? Does it mean the pilot was unable to get the engine started?

CUT means they were eliminated from flying the final round on Sunday in the Pro Am division. Only the top 14 were selected to continue forward for flying the 4th round.

We arrived at Paradise Field for the Top Gun event around 8 AM. It was well laid out and we were able to get unloaded and set up right away. I was pleased that there was a vendor already serving food for breakfast. we picked up our registration packet, which had everything we needed. There was no shortage of love bugs, but I live in Florida and they werent really an issue. The other builders and pilots were very helpful many offered assistance. I was surprised the crowd was bigger than I thought it would be. The wind started out strong, but it wasnt too bad as teh day went on. There were some awesome aircraft on display and flying. The craftmanship was awe inspiring. I really have a lot of respect for the skills of the pilots and builders in attendance. The judges were friendly and accomidating. Over all it was a great experience. We plan on being there around 7AM tomorrow to get set up and look forward to a fun day of flying. We are scheduled to do our flight later in the day, the third from the last of the group. Thanks to Frank Tiano and his group for the effort they put into the event. I didnt get many pictures, but Brian did get one of the BT-13 after the static judging.

Ok, here we go. Here's my batch of pictures from today. The first 2 days I spent mostly shooting video, but I didn't have much to shoot today so I could spend more time with pictures!!! So I have a few more to post than the last 2 days!!!
We had a cold front blow through last night that started the day off overcast but much cooler. In fact, the temps were a lot cooler all day than it has been which was a major relief to all attending here. The winds were still up but had switched around and now were blowing from the north, which was another crosswind. But the pilots handled it with no real problems. And yes, the love bugs were still out in force!!!
Today was the final round of flying for the Pro-Am classes, but after they finished the field was opened up for the classes flying tomorrow to get out and practice and trim their planes. I stayed around and shot pictures the entire time, so I have a bunch of pictures from planes that will be flying tomorrow.
And without any further ado, here are the pictures from today......

Ken...
I'll repeat what they all are saying.... GREAT JOB...!!! Even when we can't be there... you bring it to us... and it IS appreciated..!!! Keep the Bill and Sharon in line and tell them Hi from their home club gang at the OK Sooner Squadron. Always proud to see a fellow Okie keeping it real and, as always, taking it a notch higher. You really do outstanding work..!! But I knew that from the WBOOK last May. You are a video/photo energizer bunny on steriods.
See you in Denton for the WBOTX in Mid June. Bring me a Love Bug... whatever that is...??

Ken, You might want to get static and in-flight pictures of a Love bug. Seems you have no problem catching awesome images of anything that flies

So, So many amazing planes. I hope to someday be able to make it there in person.
So many cool shots too. I love the B-17 with contrails, almost looks like it is flying on a run deep over Germany!

I realize that Pro-Am is intended to be a fly anything kind of event, but it really bothers me that there are ARFs being flown at Top Gun. Scale contests are about building AND flying a scale aircraft.

If the ARFs start winning consistently, wouldn't we have to start to question the scale communities skill set? I don't think that is in any danger of 'dumbing down' to the ARF any time soon.
