Hope you guys have good weather for your event. There seems to be a lot of activity in the WW1 world with some great planes. We had our event in April of this year with some beautys as well. We even had the field decorated up. You can see it at rc universe and in the golden age col. Maybe page 3 by now under the GILMAN SPRINGS heading and says alot of photos etc. Enjoy. Mel.

Here's my 1/3 scale Pup from Ohio Dawn Patrol 2010, this most excellent photo taken by Mike Bealmear. He should really do something in the photography field for a living... Oh wait, he does.
I'll be bringing it with an extra tank of CO2 for the paintball gun this year. I should roll into town early Friday morning. I'll bring the big Pup & my 1/5 scale Eindecker.
See you guys soon!

Greg
If you need co2 filled we have a filling station close,if you do 9 oz tanks we have spares.
We did alot of WW1 test flying this long holiday weekend!
Barry with his GTM D6 and his GTM DR1(w/ a new DA85..)
Gary with his DR1 and D7 BUSA planes and his 66% Demo
Jeff with his D8 and PUP from BUSA
Tom with his Bristol
I had a GTM DR1 and the 1/2 scale D6 flying (Mostly testing new props)
I also finished up a N17 test and tune on the BUSA 1/3 scale N17 being sold to warbird Sammy(mainly because he lost his 28 at Nall)
Less than 2 weeks!

A job well done! Thanks .....
oh, by the way, Billy finished in third place, not 4th.
This was also the first time that Billy finished ahead of me in scale competition. He has been ahead of me in static all along, but I have always out flown him.
Well, no longer....he thumped me good this time .....both in static and also in the 2 scoring flights.
Congrats, Billy. I owe you a Stewart's Root Beer to celibrate your victory!
Oh, by the way, my static score was 95.5 and I flew all 4 rounds in the 90s.....I finished in 7th place.
Have I mentioned that I like my new plane?!?!!!
See you at the ODP next week.

Hey Paul,
Thanks for the CO2 supply, my set up does use 9oz CO2 tanks, so if I run out of ammo, I'll take you up on that.
I saw the photos earlier in the thread from Gary's Demoiselle flight & that is magnificient! I can't wait to see it in person! It appears that all of you guys have had a very productive building season.
Art & Billy,
Congratulations on your NATS performances, I hope to see you guys dogfighting in the air again, this time at ODP! That's hard core mission oriented flying if I ever saw it. Was looking back at some photos from Hoosier Dawn Patrol '07 & '08 & the stuff you guys did (with his Pup & your EI) was incredible.

I think Billy also got the flight achievement award at the nats. That award winner is the pilot that the judges agree they liked the best. I also want to thank the judges. They did a great job. The event was a lot of fun. See you guys at the odp.

I got a couple emails asking if we are running only 2.4 at this event. You are welcomed to bring your 72mhz radios but it will be a self managing frequency board. Last year it was only a few guys using 72mhz.
See you guys soon!

Good to hear Sammy is back in the hunt!
I guess you and I are finished with formation flying now.........DOG FIGHTING is next!!!!!
I have my N-11 repaired (new tail skid) and will be there on Wednesday morning.
We can begin learning dog fighting techniques without tearing our planes up (like Jim and your brother, Joe did last year).
There are some basic rules - RULES, WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING RULES ! Shut up....we need rules!
1. Engage in the dog fight by mutual agreement.
2. Don't dog fight when other folks are flying around the circuit.
3. Break off when either pilot calls it quits.
4. Remember, this is for the visual affects only - we are not really going for the kill - Joe and Jim....are you listening?
5. Announce your intentions to the other pilots so that we can watch (and learn)....and of course we will offer our critiques, both good and bad after you land.
6. And of course, stay in the same scale ..... quarter scale against quarter scale; third scale against third scale; like sizes together, because perception is difficult enough without compounding it with a big plane and a little plane in the sky together.

Can't we all just get along and have a good fight. LOL Sure wish I could talk the others in going up Thursday but alas Friday morning it will have to be. I'm trying to think of a way to put lights on the Eindecker just to get up before Billy does. Yes I know the Eindecker did not have lights but this IS the 20th century and I need to get in the air before he does.
