Default new toy trying to identify it.....

hi folks, just picked this one up, trying to identify exactly what it is. i am quite sure it was an older kit, 85" wing span, weighs 9 1/2-10 lbs., power is a magnum .75 2-stroke with a pitts muffler and futaba gear. the older gentleman i got it from said it was a citabria, but, i have never seen one open cabane. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Balsa USA Citabria Airbatic Pro. Only one full scale built.

That looks to be a nice one and 9 -10 lbs is great. Mines is just under 12.

And that one full scale plane used to reside at Creve Cour airport on the west side of St. Louis Mo.

The boys are right and take a look at the name: Balsa USA "Citabria Airbatic "Pro. Airbatic is Citabria spelled backwards.

sweet. thats it. thanks so much for the help. yeah, this one is probably a little lighter due to it being covered in monokote. i weighed it this morning and it is dead on 10lbs. ready to fly. the previous owner said the magnum .75 flew the plane well, but was no speed demon. we will find out soon..........

It wasn't designed to be a speed demon. You had to FLY it.

Citabria Airbatic''
Technically this is a palindrome:

The question is why wasn't it citaborea aerobatic? I suppose that looks too much like some exotic species name.

Very good point C_M. This is a great plane to learn about flying "on the wing" with ,imho. The only real surprise to me was the slow roll rate so be ready with rudder and elevator in the rolls.

Sorry but the word LEVEL is a palindrome, it is the same word rather you spell it backwards or forwards. The word dog is not a palindrome because backwards it is god.

The name of this particular planewas intenionally named by spelling Aerobatic backwards because itis capable of performing aerobatic manuvers (which in general aviation is rare).
