PT-19 Federal Standard Colors?
Guys,
Does anyone have reference to the Federal Standard colors for the PT-19 U.S. Army Trainer? I'm re-covering mine with Solartex, and I'll be doing the light blue/yellow scheme. I would appreciate it.

Thanks By. This is the scheme I'm wanting to use. Does anyone know the Federal Standard colors used for the paint and markings?:

I believe that particular PT-19 was restored by the book and has received awards for it's accuracy. So, with that in mind and the fact that photos can be deceiving. The actual color tone and hue for the blue and yellow may appear different in various light. Clear sky vs. overcast etc.
...here are the actual F.S. numbers:

Thank you 'hog!
That's what I was looking for!
I just read an article by Stan Alexander from one of my old AMA mags, and he writes that the original planes had all ply painted skins, no fabric used. Only later restorations had fabric. I haven't painted a wood-covered plane since I was a kid...

Well, the F.S. paint numbers, just as the article said, aren't a correct match. What I'll have to find is the Quartermaster Corps spec. 3-1 color card. No luck finding one so far. Does anyone know of a source?

Dana Bell's book is a good reference to use.
I've been involved with several PT-19 restorations over the years. For the wings, stabilizer and vertical fin, use A-N Yellow. The fuselage, including the engine cowls, wing fairings and tail fairings is A-N Blue. The red rudder stripes are Insignia Red, white stripes are Insignia White, the blue vertical stripe is insignia blue. The same red, white and blue are used for the star in circle.
You can also purchase a CD of the maintenance manuals which show all the information you need. http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/PT19.html
Brodak (Randolph) has the colors you need. http://www.randolphaircraft.com/free.html or http://brodak.com/painting-products.html

Thank you for that information Michael. That's what I'll use, as I cannot find representations of the original Spec. 3-1 Quartermaster Corps colors. I'm beginning to believe they don't exist.
