Exclamation Kit Cutters Inc is for sale - I hope none of you are still waiting.

Well I made a discovery I was looking for laser cut short kit that I can't afford and ended up here: http://www.kitcutters.com/
According to the website "The Business is for Sale". They had quit taking orders several years ago and finally made it official. Anyone here tempted to go into business?

Always do research before spending $$$

Kit Cutters has "enjoyed" a poor reputation for as long as I have been on the forms.

True, but not everyone is aware of that reputation, this will at least keep anyone from trying to work with them. I can see someone buying the assets but not the company name or the website. No goodwill to sell.

Ya. They have nothing to sell. They blew that, many years ago.

National Balsa enjoys a decent reputation. My Luscombe was built from one of their kits. They may cost more, but at least you get product after you pay your money.

Does National Balsa cherry pick the balsa going into their kits?

I doubt it. It probably isn't feasible,

I was able to use all of the wood that was included in my Luscombe kit. I can't say that about my Cessna 195 kit, provided by the other major kit cutter.

Bought an Ugly Stik kit from Laser Design Services. Very happy with it. Guys in our club are very happy with Bob Holman partial kits.

The last time I checked into having a kit cut for a giant scale astro hog I was shocked at the price and dumbfounded by the amount of time it was going to take to get it done. I've built several planes from plans and always cut them out myself. It isn't hard to do and if you just cut what you need for each major assembly, it doesn't seem like there is as much work to it.

One thing I've learned living in rural Japan far removed from all of these fancy modeling services and resources is that I can almost always get it done faster and better myself. The only time I had a set of ribs cut for me was for a 1/6 scale DrI where I wanted EXACTLY scale ribs (with all the scale lightening holes and the scale cut-out of the scale box-spar I had made) made of 1/64" ply (which is all that was needed since I'd be reinforcing these with scale rib caps and horizontal pieces). This would have been a nightmare to do by hand.

Of course we WWI modelers have it easy. Most of the time, we're modeling a constant cord wing with a uniform airfoil.

I've heard that Bob Martin of Bob Martin's RC Models may be cutting kits again soon. What have you heard?
I wonder if he'll be cutting any of his old kids. What is your favorite BM RC Models kit?
