And the cockpit is ready for detaling, like seat, instruments (The instrument panel now is only temporarily), seat belts, stick, buttons, levers etc.
Some of the pictures also showing the neck-support wich was made from a balsa-cube.
And some pictures of the planes, like they are now.

Making air intakes:
Not so big interest for this it seems like, but I'll keep updating!
Now we have started to make the air intakes on the side.
First we draw the shape of the intakes on each side, to line ut the plywood-pieces we cut out before.
We had to make a little support because we haven't made the lower part of the nose yet. With a few adjustments it was good.

And now we have to shape the intakes around these pieces.
We use 100mm balsa, cut, glue, sand and shape. A lot of work, but it will be nice at the end.
This will only be applied at the front of the intake because it's very round, but at the rear we will cover it with thin balsa, and at the very end we will make a balsa block and sand it down to the right shape.

A few more pictures.
It rooms the cylinder head well, and it make a free airflow to the air intake on the engine.
The plan was also to have the muffler / silencer in the other side, but it isn't sure that it will fit, so we'll se about that.

RE: Building: Cosmic Wind - 1 / 2.6 scale
Hi Laaars, I am Stefan from Germany,
I found all the interesting pictures from your Cosmic production. I am very interesting to se the result because I am also in progress to build a Cosmic Wind. My scale is 1:3,3 and I am using a GFK body which I bought from a friend. He has the Main Modell to produce and sell them.
The wing measure is 180cm and I bought already a 26ccm MVVS engine.
What I would like to know from you or from your father is, how you will make the rudder and elevator in the back part. If it is possible for you to bring some informations in your productionstorry it will be very helpfuly for me.
Thanks and good luck
Stefan

Hey Laaars,
you gotta get us some copies of these plans, even if they are rough sketches on paper. I usually work from the same kind of plans...
But I really look forward to build such a beautiful bird, in this very scale. I have several gas engines in the 30-45cc range laying around. Would be a nice fit into such a racer...
Please, what would it coost to Xerox the sketches of your father and send them to me in Brazil??

Thanks [8D]
About the plans, you have to ask my father.. will tell him this and you can talk to him!
Steffan, about the rudder: Do you mean how we built it? It was built by a frame of balsa, and the covered with a layer of thin balsa.
Well, here's some new pics... have done a lot since last time.
Here we have put in all the servos, and made the links to the rudder and elevators.
All the servos (Except for the throttle servo) are HS-635HB if I don't remember wrong.

And then it was time to make room for the muffler.
We had to make some changes in the front to make room for it, but it went okay.
We made a small "tunnel" for the muffler, to isolate the heat, and lead it to an air-vent we will have in the back...
And the we welded together some pipe-bends to make a nice exhaust pipe.

RE: Building: Cosmic Wind - 1 / 2.6 scale
hi Laars,
that looks very good. I looked a lot of times on this page but nothing happend during the time. Maybe the winter in Norway was to warm
I finished my Cosmic completly but I did a big mistake. The weight is to high. So I start to produce new wings. There I did the mistake and I hope I can reduce the weight of 1kg.
You can take a look in my gallery there you can see some picture from my Cosmic Wind but the picture are not bran new.
So I will follow your side.
regards
Stefan

That's some very impressive work on the exhaust manifolds! Kinda makes me wish I could solder.
Everywhere I look it seems this skill at some point becomes indispensable for serious scale modelers.
Keep up the good work!
cheers,
Trev

I like the way you did your exhaust. I am using a cannister muffler for the first time and you have shown me how to do mine.
thanks

Okay, time for some updates.
The exhaustpipes are finished, and we have made some "hatches" under the fuselage to the servo's and radio equipment.
And one of the air intakes are finished sanded down (At least mine are)
Here's some pics of the front with the hatch and everything in place

Here's some pics of the rear hatch.
In this one sits all the servo's except for the throttle servo. And we will also have the radio equipment and battery down there.
There's also some pics of the rear wheel.
We have used a separate servo for this, and steel wire for linkage, with some springs in the end.

Time for some updates...
The fuselages is almost complete, except for the cockpit and some other things.
Have started on the wings... not so much to tell [8D]

Hi
The spinners are from http://www.krumscheid-metallwaren.de...-englisch.html in Germany
The projects are slowly going forward, because we are building electric planes from ww1 in scale 1:12

Now started up the project again. Try to finish it this year.
Finish covering the fuselage, and started to paint it.

Beautiful, looks very good. Eager to see it finished, a pity you don't have plans to sell a copy...
