Would appreciate any help in finding plans or kit for a Mooney 'Mite'. Modeling one has been a dream of mine ever since my uncle purchased an M-18(?) 'Mite' in 1965. I believe any scale providing over 65in wing span would allow for detailing within my limited talents. I already found a wealth of information on the MITE at http://www.mooneymite.com/

I am currently re-doing the Jetco Mooney M-18 Mite at a 45 inch span in the radio version. Uses all wood construction and has some parts not included in the original kit. Is set up for a Norvel. Fixed gear, not retracts as there isn't anything on market that will fit the wing at present.
The larger version will be coming along next year, after the Mooney M-20-C.

Thanks William, Antonio, and Edwin for you inputs!
William - I look forward to completion of your project, and will watch your site for the announcement.
antonio104 - I will mail an inquiry regarding the plan you identified. I hope it is still available after 14 years
Edwin - I had 'skimmed' MAN plans and missed that. I will redo, more carefully.

I remember the article in Model Airplane News back in the 50'a. Walt Mooney wrote the article and used a McCoy .049 diesel (inverted) in it. I wouldn't be surprised if you contact M.A.N. and they still sell the plans. That airplane was free flight but if you had the plan and blew it up to the size you need I'' bet it would be nice. Jetco did make a kit from that plan (~44 wing span) but the plan probably is the best way, and the cheapest, to at least look at it.

There were about ten different sized plans created since the inception of the Mite. Free flight, controlliner and radio, 36" span to 88" span, wood or foam wings.
All real Mooney M-18's had wood wings. I have been altering the kit to include lasr cut engine parts which were not included in the original Jetco box. Will eliminate the extra parts used only for free flight and controlline purposes. I have cut the fuselage, fitted new engine, and have already come up with a few alterations to be on next batch of parts.
Problem is, I have folks asking for Tri-Pacers, Cessna 170's, Birdogs, Stinsons, and those projects are further to completion.

I just received the new issue of Model Airplane News and it has the complete plans directory in it that contains a Mooney Mite (looks like ~.60 size). Plan is $24.95, I think. I don't have the issue available, I lent it to a friend.
