Default Radio Control Scale Int. is no more :-(

Today I received a letter stating that that Traplet will cease publishing Radio Control Scale International.
I will miss that publication. Most articles were very good but lately the number of pages was on the decrease.
Given the activity in the RC-universe scale and warbird forums, one would think that there should be a market for a dedicated scale magazine, but apparently that is not the case. Does anybody have an idea about what circulation is necessary to keep a specialist magazine alive?

I had recently renewed my subscription for another two years, instead of RCSI I have the choice of receiveing Radio Control Model World or another Traplet magazine of my choice or to get a reimbursement.

Hopefully the other scale magazine I subscribe to, Flying Scale Models, will benefit from the loss of a competitor ;-).

Are there any other magazines aimed at R/C scale modellers (in english, french, german or some other language)? Any information is very much appreciated.

Interesting.

I received a renewal notice today from their US agent, Wise Owl, but nothing about the mag shutting down.

Interesting indeed.

Interestinger yet is the continued presence of RCSI on both web sites.

A puzzlement.

Off to query Wise Owl . . .

I thought that Traplet had its own U.S. organization located in Illinois. I know that Wise Owl handles Flying Scale Models maazine. I got a letter from Traplet about RCSI and that they will pass along the remaining issues to R/C World magazine. If you are already a subscriber to RCW they will extend it. Regards.

It'll be missed

the-plumber you're looking at the old website.
Go to http://www.traplethouse.com/ and click on the UK flag and you will see the new site don't know why they did not go the
whole way, could be because they have local branches in Oz and USA.

Red B you could always try RCJI, same editor

Really enjoying each issue. Damm and then they have to stop publication.

At least you were lucky in that they gave you credit on another mag of theirs . I subscribed to "Scale R/C Modeller " from about 1977 when it started till its demise around 98 I think .
a loyal customer right ! I had 6 months left on my subscription , wrote to them etc , got nowhere as they said it would start again shortly . never did , I lost out ! And that is Challenge publications which have loads of aeroplane mags ..

Just be glad you weren't an _author_ when Mr. Schnepf opted to stop paying bills.

A classy publication loaded with a wealth of knowledge in every issue!
The only "scale" pub left to the RC modeling community is apparently "Flying Scale Models", at $103 per year (Wise Owl price)!!
Gonna have to get SWMBO to drop her subscription to Oprah magazine, and a couple others if this family can afford that...

Very easy it only takes a few seconds and a screwdriver.

I'm sure I'm correct - Ed Schnepf tried to stiff me after Rich Uravitch left the rag. Didn't work; Mr. Schnepf understands the term "fraud" and the implications thereof.

He did stiff AMC, but she's a far kinder soul than I.

As for Goyer being 'owed', that must be why he landed in rec.models.rc.air trying to sell ALL the models that had been subjected to the magazine's product review "process".

The poor sods who wrote product reviews weren't offered the option of keeping the models in lieu of payment. Dunno if they got stiffed on the payment part.

Last I read Schnepf was one jump ahead of the folks trying to repossess "Executive Sweet".

On topic : received a refund for the remaining SR/CI subscription a week or so ago.
