Well got my T34 all set up and ready to fly except for the balance. I need about 23 oz on the nose to balance this thing out with an OS FX .91 in the nose! I did not put the battery in the nose area by the tank because it was a pain. Made a mount right on the CG location. I put my iPad mini with an otter box and the plane balanced perfect 😂😊. Now I want to switch to a way larger motor and run a 3-blade. I know this is an old thread but want to vent a little on this. Happy New Year!

Speaking of venting. I did fibreglass on this one for the first time. Having issues with trying to paint so went back to my trusty Monokote.. Got the tail section done with stock on hand. That beautiful yellow scheme. Ordered more to finish out the plane and the color has been changed to this orangish tint. Awefull! Don't know where to go from here.

Ok look like I measured from the wrong point of the leading edge. I remeasure from the center leading edge and that set the CG back about 1/4 inch. Now with a 2oz prop washer weight, I only need to add 6.5 oz to get the plane to balance with a OS.91FX. Would be less if I move the battery onto the firewall since it weighs about 4.8 oz. Instead of causing a short in the battery from fuel I am going to keep it right on the CG point and just add the 6.5 oz to the nose area.

Ok balanced...plane came out to 13.8lbs with a 2.0oz spinner washer, 6v 5oz battery on motor mount and 1.5 oz of lead on the side of the landing gear wood. I might need about .25 or .5 more but will fly it like this and see how it goes. This is with Robart Retracts and OS .91FX.

Well moved some items around and based on the fish scale, I was able to get the plane down to about 12.5lbs. Digital scale still shows it around 14lbs
. I think that digital scale does not do well with weight below 20lbs. I have researched more mufflers for my .91FX but can not find anything that will work
. Most people are using 4-cycle sticking out the side . The guy that built this built it really clean but is using a Top Flite In-Cowl Muffler for .61-.75 engines
. Wish I could find someone who modified it for more flow
because I love how clean it looks.
So this plane is grounded until I can figure out an in cowl muffler I can use with the engine that will not interfere with the retract block.
I have tried using the search feature in RCU against this thread and the Bonanza build thread to get some ideas but seems it is not working like it used to
