Completion is near on a Top Flite DC-3. Power will be (2)O.S. FS-40 Surpass engines, Top Flight Retracts, Flaps, finished off with Nelson Paints in a Navy scheme (Orange, Silver, White, with Black trim). Dick Pettit wrote a very favaorable article in R/C Report back in December 1998 on this kit. Has anyone else had any experience with this plane. Any thoughts and comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

SDCrashmaster: The recommended retracts are sold under the Top Flite label and mfg'd by Robart. So, I used those.

Sounds nice. My last trip to Puertocitos on the Sea of Cortez I stopped at the airport in San Felipe just to check it out. There on the tarmac was a beautiful DC3 that was privately owned. The captain was in the small terminal and I asked him if I could go check it out. Did a walkaround. Sweet. TopFlite makes some nice, quality kits. Check out my TF Cessna at
Good luck and post pics of your bird.

Did you happen to see the article by Ernest LeClair,in R/C Report mag,Feb 99,regarding designing your model for Top Flite? Would be fascinating to someone who has built it I think.

SDCrashmaster: I checked out your C-182 site and my hat is off to you. I have flown fullsize 182's alot over the last 28 years and am very familiar with every nut, bolt, rivet, and wrinkle of the skin. You have captured it all in 1/5 scale. You need to go to Top Gun! You are a true Master Modeler!

Thank you all for the kind words. The project was truly exhaustive and I don't know where I find the patience. But it's comments like all of yours and just about everyone who has seen it that makes it all worthwhile. And I appreciate it very much.

Kevin; I do not remember seeing that article, although at that time we weren't building this plane. Thanks for the info though; if it was in R/C Report, I'll call Gordon Banks and see if a copy is available.
