Royal Kits

Thanks Jesse, I think turning a wood plug first is the way to go, and wouldn't take long. I can cut a plywood template for you. I wonder what guage aluminum Royal used? Anyway you could give it a try (might be fun). I don't know why I didn't think of turning an aluminum cowl like Royal used in the first place, it is almost easier than making a plug, then a mold, then laying up the part, curing and then getting it the heck out of the mold! Plus, it is kind of cool looking and made of the same material as the real airplane! - E
Oh, yea, the plug needs to be reduced from my template by the thickness of the chosen aluminum. You could PM me your address. Let's give it a shot?

Yea, Jesse if you just go for it and turn out a decent result ... then cool? Really, have fun with it, and if something happens then I want one. Nuff said. PM me on the template first, since you won't have my profile otherwise. We can do it (even if others can't)? I still need to get back to my other company (expensive), but they WILL do it right.

Ha! Ha!
The crash happend around 1993. I got almost all the pieces from the guy that crashed it back in 2002. Royal P-38's have never been for the faint of heart! Today's Electric ARF generation would have no idea.
I am rebuilding it for the challenge, into a competition worthy P-38F just like Glacier Girl. With Fowler flaps, drop tanks and brakes. And of course gear doors and opening canopy. I posted a link to my build on RCScale Builder a few pages back.
I got a nice new canopy from US wing on Ebay and proud of it. Royal Marutaka and, Lockheed do not make them anymore.

Glad to hear of your goal. I would love to see it back it shape and a competitor as well. I am still tinkering with my Stuka that has never flown. Life is crazy busy lately and I have 4 other planes that need attention. I too got a new canopy from him for my bird- it is nice.
Part of me wants to get the stuka airworthy for a test flight or two. The other part wants to be conservative and dress it up for static life (considering its age). Hate to smash it on maiden... especially since this wing shape can be tricky.
Best of luck in the reassembly. Post pics.

I got a Royal p39 kit which was partially build.I found out I am missing some of the bulkheads for fus. Looking to see if any one has a plan
that shows the N bulkheads from which new ones can be made. My plans only show the profile where the parts go.
Thanks byjoe

Yes I have seen that web page before! Very interesting indeed! It would be neat to get some feedback from those folks. That would solve all our problems!
Also just for fun, can you imagine all the Royal kits as ARF's?[X(] No more carving and planking!
