Dnalor did you use retracts on your cessna skymaster?

No I did not use retracts. I have two sets of retracts for the 337 or 182 but I didn't use them. If I build the 182, I might try the retracts.

Actually, I was talking about the front engine, believe it or not. It's very scale looking and I know it can be a challenge to keep one alive like that. I see the inlet but the outlet must be well hidden. Looks great.

Hey gang, Here are a few pictures of my P-38. I completed this plane a couple of years ago,and have posted it for sale a couple of times. It is powered by two Thunder Tiger Pro 46's
also has Spring Air retracts.

Say fellows, anyone have or know where I might pickup a of ABS or fiberglass parts for the P-38. I'm looking for the cowls, scoops(oil/air) and turbochargers. Know Fiberglass Specialties has them offered but thought someone might have a set gathering dust.

I have abs turbochargers and I think scoops for the Wing Mfg P-38 which I was originally going to use before I got them from Zollner. The Wing Mfg has a square fuse, but they should be usable if noone comes up with a set of Royal ones for you.

Hi Dail! You’re the first person i’ve contacted in years here. I hope life finds you well! I always loved your Royal P-38; so nicely done and you apparently flew it.

I today found a nice ebay one for around $315, missing a few parts they say, but no problems with that. So; just really curious how this twin flies. I’m thinking of buying another max .61sf to match my unrun nib from 1996 (seriously), if I wanted to build and fly one of these beauties. I’m in Colorado as you might recall, so the bigger .61 x 2 might be called for?

so; this is a pretty big time investment to build one. Is it a good risk/reward prospect? Advice on twins in general? Gyros something to consider?

my instincts (as a full scale multi rated pilot), is just to instantly cut power if you’re seeing an imminent upset which is likely due to assymetric power issues..then try and glide back in or feed a little power back if you’re a genius with rudder. You can see i’m just wary of spending inordinate amount of time just to auger one in...ha ha ha!

best,
Eric Hanson

Yea two in the 45 to 55 range probably would do it. In Denver area (home of the original Royal Corp one block away from me here), a .61 probably has about the same power as a .45 at sea level (or worse). Most people around here wouldn’t dare fly any Royal single engine warbird type with less than a good .90 two stroke schneurle. I’ve never flown any r/c twin, so i’m at quite a disadvantage. Good news is I won the ebay O.S. 61 SF for$112. Looks almost new in the picture, we’ll see. I have an identical unrun O.S. From ‘95...so i’m leaning toward that pair after they’re run-in. I suppose you can always throttle down; but the reverse doesn’t hold. I noticed on the -38 still at auction, does say on box up to .60 x 2. So in Colorado that may be the ticket. You just don’t see people flying anything like it here at a club field... maybe a scale

Finally hung the zeke to make room. In background are a T.F. .61 size P-51, an old Carl Goldberg Chipmunk, and a 70’s Grand Esprit sailplane (134” span). All built from kits. I guess on some other threads you might need to say an ARF doesn’t qualify as a kit (seriously).

Still needs final markings and paint on canopy I got from Luke.
foam electric? Ha ha ha, they fly any and all here too; really.

Nice to see some of the old thread participants around still!

I got this thanks to a great friend thank you Michael Bresnahan. Classic posters by Carl William Polvogt in association with royal products Corp these are quite hard to come by as this is the first one I've ever gotten my hands on.
Are there listed models are P-51D, FW 190, P-38, A6M5 zero, Spitfire Mk. VIII.
