RE: Albatros DVa
Hi, I use Dubro turnbuckles on my planes. A little gun blue and they look just right! For flying wires, By a spool of 150-200 lb Dow Rigger line. Inexpensive 5 strand braid and a spool will do a bunch of 1/3rd scales.

DJ,
I have my fuse all ready for the sheeting and was wondering what thickness of sheet you used. The plans I have call for 5/32" thick, which I think is way too thick. Not to mention too much work. I was thinking about 3/32. 1/16 would be even easier, but I would be worried about an errant thunb poking through it. What is your recommendation?
Thanks,
Martin

cocobear, Sorry to cut in here with an unrelated subject. At theaerodrome.com, I talked to you about 1/4th scale plans for your Albatross DIII. I have left a PM there about this. Thank you! (Now, back to your regularly scheduled programing)!

DJ,
I have another question for you. I am wondering what kind of servos you're using in the top wing. I have two HS-5125's sitting here. THey say (I think) 49oz @ 6volts. Is that enough. It seems a little weak to me. Just curious what you guys are using.
Thanks again,
Martin

Did some work on the cowl tonight. Added the metal strip edging and slathered some bondo on top. Now on to sand fill sand fill prime sand.... It is getting there.

I covered the stab with koverall and primed some of the gun bits. The stab is just slid into place to make sure there were no gaps. I will give it some dope, stitching and tapes before I install it permanently. The scheme I want to use has the tail in black and white stripes.

Dave (Cocobear), Sorry to cut in here, again. The plans for the Albatros DIII that you said were placed in the mail on January 16th, have not arrived. I would think you will want to investigate this. Again, If they do show up, I will mail a payment for them when you either PM your mail address to me or will use your return address to send it off.
Thanks!
Thanks!

RE: Albatros DVa
hi rcar4,
I have been working on little detail stuff that is, in my opinion, not very interesting to look at so I didnt post it. I have been working on getting the cabane struts finished and ready for primer. I put some more bondo on and did some shaping of the fairings and the metal brackets that model the strut attach fittings. I had to bend them a bit to make them fit the fuselage side. Then I slopped some resin on the struts and other places on the airplane to seal the grain.
I also did an experiment on one of the shell chutes. Three of the four were balsa covered with paper. On the fourth I carved it from balsa but used resin instead of paper. I tried to mold in panel lines and the other detail. It did not work out well and so I covered that with paper also and detailed it. I didnt take any pictures of any of this stuff.
It finally warmed up today so I got into the garage and got another coat of dope on the ailerons. The wings are ready for markings. The ailerons need one more coat of dope or so. They should be done by the end of the weekend. I am working efest tomorrow so I may not get much done.
By the way, I see you are from Champaign. Are you in the local rc club? If you are going to efest on sunday stop by the frequency board. That is where I am working and I am pretty sure I will have lots of spare time to chat.

Thanks for the correction, when I saw the age of 58 it should have given me a clue. Good luck.

RE: Albatros DVa
Back on topic!!!! I had not touched this for quite some time due to illness, crazy work schedule and the fact that I found a big fat problem with the markings!! After studying the pictures extensivly I noticed something which looked slightly odd. I confirmed the issue and became depressed and needed to walk away from it for a while. Yesterday I began tackling the problem. man do I hate reworking something I thought was done. I shall know tomorrow if my efforts were succesful. If so, plane should be finished in a couple of weeks!!

This seems to be a private matter between you and cocobear so why bring it to a forum? Have you been cheated, ripped off etc? Maybe its a matter of the plans carrier and not the sender. I bought something from a guy on Tx and even though I live in Va the item was SENT TO GEORGIA??? why? ask the post office!! and I never received it and was out my $50 too.
Public whining seems to be the order of the day. Sorry about your job loss. I think unless you have a real issue that cannot be resolved in private you should keep it private. My 02 cents.

Well said Bob, I completely concur. If I started whining about the money I lost a few years ago waiting for a engine to be built by a well known guy in Canada and the out come you would all pass out! [sm=47_47.gif]

Dave,
I am almost finished with the top wing on my DV and am wondering if the servos I plan on using are enough. They are theHitec 5125 thin wing servos. About 50 oz.in torque on 6v. Will this be enough. If not what are you guys using?
Thanks,
Martin

RE: Albatros DVa
That should be OK. Bottom limit however. Standard sizes will fit with ease. I highly recomend looking at the Futaba S3305s as they are only $35 and 105 oz.in and metal gears. If the Hitec thin wings don't have metal gears, don't use them, at least in my opinion.
