Phillip Kent ¼ Scale BC12- D Taylorcraft
I thought I would show some pictures of my ¼ scale Taylor craft I thought would be a good alternative to the Bob Nelitz 1/3 scale and look as good in a smaller scale for transport without reducing the plans! Also Bob Holman sells the plans and lazar short kit. I am now producing the cowl for anyone that would like to build this project. [email protected]. More pictures to come!!!!!!!!!!!

i am building the hostetler tcraft bc12d.....i noticed you didnt have sheeting on the whole fuse......only a portion? i am sheeting all of mine.....i use 1/16th ply back to f3 then covered it with 1/8th balsa. from f3 back....i used 1/16th balsa....then 1/8th balsa. my plan is engineered for a hacker ep. i contacted wendell....he said a g-26 will work fine. plan calls for no mods using gas.....but i done a bunch of them. i am at the point right now of covering the h stab....the v stab....the feathers.....whole thing so far still only weighs 3.5 lbs. with the center section attached and the tailwheels assembly in place with wheel. plans states finished weight at 15 lbs. my g-26 will go 4.6 lbs. i am curious what your pwering yours with.....and the span of it.....and estimated finished weight. i opted to eliminate the heavy plywood....aft.....and use balsa and epoxy. my guess is im going to end up with a noseheavy model is why i went this route. also i ordered main gear....instead of making them from music wire. the savings on aluminum versus steel wire will benefit me if im correct in my judgement. time will tell i guess. i have built alot of planes....been doing it for 30 years. yours is interesting.

I would be interested in seeing some pictures of your construction? Wendell uses the box construction so as the builder is guaranteed to build a straight fuse! On the other side, I was looking for a little more scale construction to finish the cockpit without any added bulk. I covered the plane in ceconit and using the stitts process which is now in poly brush! I decided to power with an OS 120 twin to try and keep scale flight characteristics! Hoping weight will be around 17lbs, any lighter will cause too much popping during straight flight. I will post more pictures soon as other project are near the finish line.

Hello Probuilder, I just wanted to let you know that I am sure enjoying this thread on your Taylorcraft! It is of museum quality, as all the planes you build are.... The pictures that you posted are fantastic! It looks like another show winning scale aircraft.... NICE! Well, as buisy as you are and you still take the time for fellow modelers questions is remarkable, and I just want to thank-you for that.... edmoor posted some stuff about you that isn't justified, it sounds like he is having difficulty manuvering around in the website?? Maybe he should spend more time relaxing by washing the dirty dishes in his sink.... Well, I will continue watching this expert at work! Take Care Probuilder! Thanks Alot!!!

Give Gary a call, in the eveninng. He can offer up some sage advice on adding the stiching and tapes. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer guy !
Your T-craft is a beauty ! What products will you use for painting ?
