I am building a TF Sea Fury and am planning on covering it with .75 oz fiberglass cloth. I would like to know how many yards I would need to cover the entire airplane. The cloth comes in 38" and 50" widths from Aerospace Composites. I'm guess that 5 yards would probably do it.
Also, I want to make the gear doors out of fiberglass as well. What weight of cloth should I use? 6oz? How many layers would I need?
Thanks,
Herb

Five yards of the .75oz cloth should be suffecient. The gear doors need to be two to three layers of 6oz cloth. Have you given a look to any of the homebuilt aircraft suppliers, like Wicks, or Aircraft Spruce? They can save you a bundle on large purchases of resins and cloth vs the R/C hobby suppliers.

Thanks, Vince.
I'm assuming that Aircraft Spruce or Wicks probably won't sell this stuff in these small quantities. Is this true? I'll check it out though.
Thanks for your reply,

Herb,
5 yrds is more than enough and one package of Zap finishing resin is also enough. Spruce will sell small quanitys but for a small job like this your lhs will be resonable.
Good Luck
