OHIO DAWN PATROL 2010

RE: OHIO DAWN PATROL 2010
A dummy engine would be a nice addition to my Pup, not sure if I've got room or not. I never considered it when building the firewall & engine mounts in relation to the cowl.

Thanks guys!
And I apologize if them being so large is a problem for some. I must have done something different in Photobucket when I uploaded them. Either that, or I'm subconsciously compensating for having probably the two smallest non-electrics there.
Still a few more to post.....

Hey Guys, When our Pop-up blew away it grabbed my DH2 and drug it upside down across the Camp and slammed into Charlies Trailer. Yesterday I surveyed the damage and am happy to report only some minor damage that can be easily repaired. I have a new Electronic Ignition unit for the Eindecker to put her back in the air. I have aquired 4 new 1/4 scale aircraft. All RTF, but I will be giving each one an annual to be sure they are truly ready. I will be making at least two of them ready for HDP. The SE5a and DVIII. I also picked up a Sopwith Pup and DR1. Got plenty to keep me occupied for a while. See ya in a few weeks.. Bear

Was there any damage to Charlies trailer? Should I assume the mangled pop-up frame, you dont need any more?
Im glad you have some easy repairs, bring as many as you can possible carry to the HDP.....My record is 7 (nothing smaller than 1/4 scale!)
Cheers, Paul
PS: What are you doing with my 7 ch receiver? do you still need it?

I'm not sure about Charlies Trailer... His Pop-Up was blowing away too... Things got a little exciting... I'll send your receiver to you... I never got around to installing it... Thanks Bear

A few more.....
Martin Justis's maiden flight on his 1/4 Albatros DIII. Congrats Martin! I wish my everyday flights were as smooth as his maiden flight.
Greg Emerick grabs some shade.
Jim Suchy's N28 and Jeff Shutic's Sopwith Tripe
Tripe's cockpit. This is one very nice model! Looking for to seeing it fly (hopefully) at the Hoosier Dawn Patrol in September.

Dave Johnson's 1/3 scale DVa.
Dave was tweaking a new engine in preparation for the US Scale Masters in September. Needless to say, the closely cowled Albatros and a very hot day presented some challenges.
Doug Blakeman's 1/3 Pup
Correction.....Jeff Shutic's 1/4 E-111 (sorry Jeff).

Announcer extraordinaire Gary Denzler. Great job again this year Gary!
Sir Percy's 1/3 N17 has a small issue.
Polish marking are great looking I think.
Thanks to all you great modelers and fliers for providing great subject matter. But next time, lets get pilot figures in all of them. You're messing up my photos!
Here's a link to a slide show if you'd like to see more.

The Hoosier DP is definitely worth going to. Steve runs a great event.[sm=thumbup.gif] Very low key, low stress, just fly as much as you like with your WW1 buddies. I'm looking forward to the "Review of the Threes", where all the 1/3 scale planes go up at once. I can actually participate in it this time!

Thanks Mike for all the pics and captions....
I'm sure all the "new bees" and past guest(who couldnt make it) enjoy your work very much!!
As the "Event Director" I didnt have a chance to see half of the planes you posted, fly..... I had no idea Norm was such a "animal" when he flew! I get to review all the pics you and other people have posted over and over in A/C!!!
I just wanted you and Rhonda and Sammy to know your work is not going un-noticed

Hey Mike!
Great Pictures, but I was robbed! Bob Gibson stole my Eindecker!
Your photo of the Eindecker heading straight for the ground is one of my models. Modified SR Batteries E.III with an all flying stab, red/white wheel covering etc. That picture is causing flashbacks of my first SR Bat.Eindecker/lawn-dart that I dove straight in at HDP 2008.
Beautiful photography!

RE: OHIO DAWN PATROL 2010
Heads Up!
There is a guy named Jack Kearbey of Tulsa, Oklahoma whowill be demonstrating a full size SE-5a that he built from copies of original RAF drawingsat EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, Wisconsin this coming week. It is 100% authentic with the exception of modern covering materials (dacron instead of cotton). The Hispano-Suiza enginehe is using was built under license by the Wright-Martin Company.
I'mleaving for Airventure early tomorrow morning. I hope to getsome good flying video as well as the usual "money shots".
Mr Kearbey is not done yet, he is currently working on a Sopwith Pup, which he started in 2006. His SE-5a first flew in 2003.
