Dare I say... "Winter Projects" ??
Hmmm.. another beautiful summers day in Scotland [:'(] The motorway (freeway to my friends "across the pond") signs say "Heavy rain and flooding forecast" made me think what I'll be building this winter.
Although I confess to being a warbird freak, my choice this year is a very unusual and rarely modelled subject, the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer.. http://www.cue-dih.co.uk/tiam/pix/ca...etps_sen02.jpg I may do a build thread on this if anyone's interested? Anyway... what other projects have you guys planned? Regard Scott :D |
RE: Dare I say...
Hello Scott,
I've been to Scotland twice and have been through Edinburgh, Machrihanish, and Kinloss. I've loved both trips. I would surely love to go back some day. I'm not sure where Hamilton is in relation to those two cities. Put me down for a yes vote to watch a build thread of this Twin Pioneer. I'd love to watch. I have three or four projects mulling around in my head right now and am not sure which one to do... a flying wing, a P-51 racer, a Golden Age racer, and a modified LT-40 for general all around use. Have to finish up my NE-1 for the moment, but that is only an ARF. I'd love to see how you go about designing and building this airplane. I love the triple tail. Bob |
RE: Dare I say...
Very interesting and unusual aircraft..what size were you thinking?....I would definitely sign on to your build..would you do semi-scale?
Still trying to figure out how that thing is flying with both engines dead in the air it looks like !!!! |
RE: Dare I say...
It is a very intresting subject, I too have been researching this as a twin electric possible build. I have located some good 3-views and other drawings. I will be standing by if you choose to begin a build thread...

RE: Dare I say...
Put me down for a YES to watch a build thread. I love un-usual subjects and that falls in that subject perfectly.
For my winter projects. The Priority, is to get the prototype composite airframe of my 1/4 F-14D Tomcat molded and the prototype ready for next years flying season. Secondary projects are: Finish the detailing of my 1/5 FW-190 (unless it sells first) 1/5 Arado for a friend B-26 marauder and possibly a 130" wingspan B-2 bomber if i can work out a deal to get it shipped to me by the current owner. |
RE: Dare I say...
Put me down, I'll subscribe.
My build will start very soon, LA 7. F/G fuse by vicrc.com, short kit by Bob Holman(have already, retracts by Gene Barton and finally convert too electric by downandlocked.com. Dave |

Bob
I'm about 20 minutes south of Glasgow so Edinburgh's only about a half hour's drive... they have a nice example of the Pioneer in the museum of flight at East Fortune. Mein Duff, it'll be around 110" span for a couple of .52 four strokes. I've been warned against making the L/E slats work in flight due to stability issues but we'll see ;) Regards Scott |
RE: Dare I say...
Thanks, Scott...
I loved the country, I loved the people, and I loved the pubs!! :D Bob |

RE: Dare I say...
Ditto ditto ditto. I find myself drifting from warbirds every now and then to golden age. Just something about that time period.

RE: Dare I say...
I'm in, love unususal subjects. Good looking aircraft, not sure if I've ever seen one before. Hard to thik about winter with the last eight days all being over 100 deg.

RE: Dare I say...
Haven't made up my mind yet. I'm torn between a BUSA Fokker DVIII Kit or a ESM German Warbird right now.
