Cessna 337 Skymaster

I will be building Hostetler Cessna Skymaster over next coming winter. I like to know from the guys who have built this model, where they got there main retractable landing gears from?. I could do C336 with fixed gears too but the aircraft i'll be replicating was C337 Model with retractable landing gears.

Also who can help me with getting the factory drawings for the landing gears so if i can't find any other source and custom gear would be the only option, least with factory drawings, a custom gear could be built following true articulation of the system.

Hve you tried emailing Hostetler and asking where he got his gear?

This link shows how the Skymaster and Cardinal retract gear can be made for models. The full scale works the same way with the key being the angle of the gear leg pivot.

The Hosteller plans I have seen do not show or reference retracts. The only comercial set to my knowledge is the Raymon Torres gear he sold as an option to his Cessna kit. http://www.rtaerospace.com/

Century jet used to do a set of retracts for the Hostetler Cessna Skymaster see below:

In the description they describe the main gear but the photo is of the nosegear only...send them an email and see.

The Ray Torres one is a different scale I think

in the linkI had the KMP skymaster done as a O-2 and loved it.. getting the Hostetler plans for a larger one, will build a quick and dirty fuselage to mockup a set of retracks for this bird. found a build from over the pond of a guy that built his own.. lots of pictures, very cool.. the thing had gear doors from hell. alot of the full size birds had the geardoors removed. but it did look cool with working geardoors, i have a few months before begaining.. doing a Vailiy 1/4 Cessna birdog right now.. power is Rimfire 65cc on 12 cells.. the Hostetler 337 would be electric also.. this guy in the link below built his with retracts been trying to contact him for information..

I built hostetlers airplane and the only issue I could see is the nose rotating forward hitting the engine exhaust. Also, the fact the gear in the 1:1 scale is garbage, wow in a heavy model even worse. Also consider engine type and flying field conditions. I fly grass and the G-62 with G-38 rear moves it along nicely. 2 cent notice that i went cheap building this airplane, meaning engines I had in stock. The least I would do for grass is 46cc. Anything smaller pavement only.
