Cap 232 cowl question

I'm assembling a World Models Cap 232 .40 size ARF. I have a question as to how to mount the cowl. I want to preserve as much of the cowl as I can, but the silencer is too large, and the cowl will not fit. Should I try to find a Pitts style muffler? Would the extra ventilation be beneficial, if I did cut out an area for the silencer? I have an Evolution .46, and as of right now I have it at 90 degrees, exhaust pointing down. Any tips would be appreciated!

RE: Cap 232 cowl question

A pitts style muffler is one way of fixing the problem. Not sure what brand of engine you are using, however some of the manufactures have an extension available for the stock muffler that will allow you and extra inch or two for the muffler to be on the outside of the cowl. As for engine cooling, the golden rule is 3 to 1. That is for 1 inch of intake, 3 inches of outlet. If the head is hanging out of the cowl anyway, this is not usually an issue. Hope this helps and Good Luck, Dave
