At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, the guns were silenced 95 years ago today.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1938567

Too bad the world doesn't know peace is the way to go!

Even though the war was scheduled to stop on 11-11-11, men were still dying that day. Sent into battle for what?? Just the stubbornness of the English generals.

Well, as we all know, nothing stopped. It just essentially took a breath and then accelerated.

We are still involved with that war today. Middle East, Africa, Bosnia. We just have short memories.

I don't know of a war that ever ended, It just moves to a different place and time, Power and the desire to rule, hate and murder still goes on in the back rooms of Nations leaders and has since the begining of time, and for what. with all we the USA has done for the world as a whole then why does so many countries hate us, the war goes on.

Maybe war was wired into humanity, as mother natures way of controlling overpopulation?

The boarders of the Europe, Middle East and Africa were all redrawn as war spoils of WW1. WW2 was started to regain what they lost. Most of these wars today are really one group of people trying to go back to pre WW1 boarders vs the other side who was put in control of the country assets who dont want to give it up.

I agree with TFF, we pay the price for the shortsightedness of those who created artificial countries like Iraq. Granted at the time the conventional wisdom of the time thought this would keep the people of these countries from causing future political problems for the country that set them up. It wasn't the first time or the last best intentions had unforeseen complications!

For example, when in 1953 the US engineered a coup against the democratic government of Mohammed Mossedegh of what was then called Persia, and re-installed the Shah, whose repressive regime and brutal Savak secret police so outraged the people that eventually Islamic fundamentalists were able to seize power...and continue to destabilize the entire region today. We sure shot our self in the foot on that one.
