Waco Center of Gravity
 

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum but not to R/C flying.

I've recently acquired a Dave Platt/ Pico 1/6 Waco YMF-3. I'm going thru checking and replacing things since it's been sitting for a while. I want to make certain the CG is correct before the maiden flight (maiden by me).

Anyone out there have a build manual/ specs (I'm mainly concerned with CG now) on this particular plane? I've searched it on this forum but the threads that come up have links that are old and either don't open or can't be found.

If nobody knows, you can find it this way. The Mean Aerodynamic Chord of a constant chord wing is the chord. Measure the chord of the top and bottom wing. Multiply each chord by .3. Measure back from the leading edge of each wing that amount for each wing. Put the CG at the mid point of the two measurements. Dan.

Or, conservatively, consider the plan form of both wings as one. Leading of top to trailing edge of bottom, in plan. As the Waco wings are about the same area top and bottom you can do this. Measure back 1/4 of this distance from the leading edge of the top wing. You probably won't need to change this once flown, my UPF has been like this for 15 years...
