ordering from Traplet

Hi There,

Are all Traplet plans and parts shipped from the UK? I wanted to order a cowl and canopy set for the Brian Taylor Kingfisher and was only given international shipping option which shipped from the UK. I am in the US and was using the American web site. The shipping cost was as much as the cost of the items themselves. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong or if all their stuff ships from the UK. Is there an alternative source in the US for Brian Taylor parts? A US branch of Traplet perhaps? If not I will just have to pay the shipping. Or make the parts myself which I dont want to do.

Regards,
Dave

I believe they are shipped from the UK. Postage from the UK on anything is always horrendous. Send Bob Holman an email, he used to carry all the Brian Taylor parts.

Thanks, Lake Flyer. I will give bob a try. I emailed traplet with the same question and have not heard back.

I sent Traplet a note and they said all their stock comes from the UK. Maybe he meant it comes from UK to Champaign. Anyway I am going to make an order. The shipping is pricey but you never know how long this stuff will be available. I have done business with Traplet before and seem to recall getting stuff from Champaign. They always did right by me.

I noticed that Traplet USA is located less than 2 miles from Tower Hobbies. Hmmm.... I wonder. Coincidence maybe?

I used to live in Champaign. I noticed that too. They sent a rep to E-Fest one year. He had a bunch of plans available. I dont think E-fest was the right venue for them.

Guys, I'd hold off on ordering for a few days till things become clear... there are posts on UK forums & social media that Traplet are no longer trading. Both the US & UK online stores are closed.

Yes I noticed the web store was not available. I sent them an email and have had no reply so far. He who hesitates is lost I guess. Going to have to make that cowl and canopy myself after all. I hope traplet survives. I hate to see hobby businesses close up.

I heard the UK store was closed and the employees let go.
Traplet is no more for now.

It is certainly unfortunate if it is true. I placed an order a couple weeks ago and now thinking that may be lost.

I am sad to hear they went under. I hope the employees find new jobs quickly. I also hope someone picks up the plans and parts business. I dont know of any other distributor of those plans sets. It would be a shame to not be able to get Brian Taylor plans anymore.
