Check with Bob Holman Plans. I think he sells plans of it. Not sure of the scale. I think it's 1/4.

I'am haveing a set made for me right now for $41.00 dollars shipped. you can email me for the name and address and i'll tell you where you can get a set. [email protected] I will tell you this much , the plans were in the IMAA and review in high flight volume lV by Chuck Spencer. This time, it was a really BIG 'heimer ! It came to me in a dream last night (no, not really, I'm only kidding !) - I actually am the proud owner of a set of Sopwith Tripehound plans in quarter scale drawn on 4 sheets by Mike Booth in 1989. And what is more, I finally found them - beautifully drawn and I understand it flies like the proverbial dream. The span is 80.3/4 inches (2.06 metres), weight c. 15 - 17lb (7 kg), 17 sq feet of wing area !!! And its designed for 120 - 180 4-strokes. An excellent range of accessories are available - spun alum cowliong, scale wheels, flat rigging wire, adjustable fork rigging ends, transfers ...... all from Mike Booth and/or (I believe) Mick Reeves. Current contacts I don't have - go to your model shop and buy a UK model magazine for their details. Sorry it toook so long to gel ...... ! MalcolmL

On further checking my old files, I came up with the following - remembering that the Tripehound was to be one of my pet projects 10 or more years ago when the Shuttleworth Museum got their flying reproduction. However, Pete McDermott beat me to it and built a 1/4 scale version of it (think about it - a 25% scale version of a 100% reproduction !) so I lost interest. However, by that time, I had gathered together some info and I offer it to you here :-

Thanks, all. I found plans for a .40 sized Triplane on the nexus uk website, plus 1/5 scale drawings at www.replicraft.com. i've ordered both and am going to take a crack at developing my own 1/5 scale plans. thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

Well done. When you've done it, could I offer to contribute to the cost for a set of your plans ? Alternately, if you would like to contribute to the cost of making and sending a scaled down copy of my Mike Booth 1.4 scale plan .......... ?

BTW I clicked on your <www.replicraft.com> and got a site selling state seals not model plans. I did check my old (1990) catalogue from Repla-Tech but nothing there on the Tripe. I remember readin that Repla-Tech have changed ownership. Anybody know where they live now ?

Jim Kiger showed me his plans a while back. I didn't know he had a Tripe in his range. They are every bit as good as he states. You won't be disappointed - overwhelmed maybe - but definitely not disappointed. MalcolmL

i just picked up a jerry behrens tripehound plane and original plans from a freind. the plane took the 1978 masters,1st place at toledo.this plane was built in the 80 s and never flown. just starting to get it ready to fly.

If you want a high quality ARF or ARC 1/5 Tripe, checkout a company on the west coast that has a good number of Dawn Patrol and Golden Age airplanes.

I downloaded those Russian Tripe plans you mentioned. They're scanned from a drawing and there is a lot of clutter in there, way too much CAD work to clean up. Bob Holman sells Tripe plans at 2" = 1' which are, BTW, VR/CS eligible. He may be offering them in larger scales but it's best to ask him. Also Jim Kiger's 1/5 scale drawings can't be beat, there's enough information there to build a 100% size flying replica.
