I want to start my first warbird building project. I have always liked the lines of a Hawker Sea Fury. Any suggestions for a good Sea Fury kit for my project. TIA.

If you are comfortable with scratch building, Try the Vailly sea fury. Its very scale and would make a great first fury. Also, I believe American Eagle has a nice one also.

Rightflyer, your choices are fairly limited but it may help if you gave us some indication of what size you want. The new Top Flite kit would be a great choice for someone with limited experience as would the Direct Connection bird linked to in Matt's post. The TF bird is much more scale than the DC airplane but I'm sure the DC is easier to build and fly. Really depends on what your goals for the airplane are. All the other Sea Furies I'm aware of are 88 inches or bigger, did you want to go giant scale? Regards, Chad Veich.

I agree with Chad on the Top Flite kit. Their kits are not difficult to build but at the same time, they give you some of the building skills you will need in order to tackle a plans built subject. I have built their Corsair and P-47 and both are good fliers.

Right Flyer, thats why I suggested the D/C Fury at the link above,....as your first scale attempt,.... :D ........... it appears that this warbird is light enough to do some mods to create a very scale warbird. (it already accepts flaps and retracts......)

I recently saw a totally scales out .60TF Corsair (glassed..awesome paint...the works) weight around 14 lbs with a .91......first flight it snapped hard from 200 feet....went in like a sack of rocks....:{

Matt, I assure you that a TF .60 size Corsair at 14 pounds is a case of carelessness on the builders part. I have built several myself, and seen several others that were fiberglassed and had all the options. I'd say 9 to 10 pounds is the average and they fly great at that weight. Just my .02 cents, Chad.

Tf kits are excellent.
 

Yes, the Tf models are excellent, but the builder in this case over did it...it weighed 13lbs before fuel.....I saw it get weighed :}
