Scale fabrication processes?
As someone just getting into scale RC modeling, I'm wondering what fabrication processes are commonly used by scale modellers to create all those awesome scale details. I'm not talking about the myriad individual (and ingenious) "tricks" like using pin heads or glue for rivet but rather the more general sorts of fabrication processes you use. I find myself looking at photos of the "REAL DEAL" planes and wondering how-on-earth am I going to reproduce THAT!!!

RE: Scale fabrication processes?
Hi!
Well a very good thing too use is epoxy/fiberglass and making molds (both for cowls, wheelpants and propellers) For this we use molding epoxy (24 hour epoxy) or polyester resin. Ca glue and "kicker"is also a must if you want to build light models. Regards! Jan K Sweden |
RE: Scale fabrication processes?
For a crash course in scale fabrication have a look (expect to spend a LONG time!) at this site:
http://www.renderwurx.com/rc/SBD/index.htm The guy is a gall darn GENIUS and an ARTIST of first rank. I just kept going from page to page going: How the heck did he think of THAT!!! I had seen a couple of his posted pictures in other threads but to see the whole project like this. Wow, wow, and double wow! Not to mention that this is just about the slickest website I've seen in a long while. |
RE: Scale fabrication processes?
I might add to my query what are the fabrication tools you couldn't life without? I'm off to the store this morning to buy a Dremel tool!
