Rivets for a barnstormer

I'd like to add rivets around the cockpit area of my Waco and I was thinking about using button head screws. Is there a better way to go for a more real (scale) look?
Thanks
Jeff

I have heard of taking regular pins and cutting the heads off and gluing just the heads to the surface around panel lines after it has been painted. That way you can have actual silver rivets over your painted plane. Kinda interesting. I am building a Citabria, and I think I will just use the "drop of wood glue" method, and paint them.

I want to add a little more info to my post. I cut out the cockpit panel out of very thin wood and stained it. I remember seeing this on another plane, it might have been a Sopwith pup and it looked great so I wanted to do that on my Waco. I want to put rivets around it the stained wood panel. I think button head screws might be a way to go.

go to a craft or fabric store and get what is known as fabric paint made by Plaid . the best color to use is Sterling silver.
it already has an applicator tip on the bottle that will make after a little practice the nicest rivits, screw heads and dzus fasteners.
if you make a mistake they wipe up very nice and can be painted over and chipped thru to show the silver.
good luck
tom
