RE: rustoleum paint question

Donnie,
Several of us guys in the club have been using Rustoleum with excellent results. I have found that it even sticks to Ultracoat. This does not apply for the gold (and probably silver) color. Gold is definitely not fuel proof. I have not put it on fabric but my buddy did on a Nieuport 28. He used the base that BUSA sells on solartex then the rustoleum.

It sounds like Diana Cream. It's a very pretty color for a Waco, and it's not yellow.
Use it ...... You won't be sorry.

Donnie, be very careful with Rustoleum. Not all of it is fuel proof! I strongly suggest you make a test panel of some sort with the covering and the color of Rustoleum you plan to use, after the paint has dried a few days to one week, coat the surface with the raw fuel you plan to use. Let that sit for 24 hours and check the results. If all is ok, then you are safe to proceed forward.

Donnie have a web search for video's and articles by Dave Platt. I remember he was the scale guru that first published an article on using Rustoleum over standard model finishes.

It is diana cream but it looks like a yellow and brown mix.... yuk. If this is the standard for cream, I think I need pearl or something. I have enough dope on the plane and was thinking of something else like rustoleum.

If what you see in the can is both yellow and brown, it's not mixed ! Dontcha know what cream is supposed to look like ? It's not even close to pearl.

And if you already have dope on the plane, you're going to need to be real careful on what you put over it.

Just know what I see. It is yellow with a touch of brown. (flat )maybe I got a defect. Tell me what a true cream color looks like. maybe I made a big mistake. I can admit it.
