Replicating a Continental Engine
 

I am going to stock up on some Williams Brothers Engine Cylinders while their still available. I have a couple future projects that were powered with the Continental radial engine. I was wondering which cylinder in the Williams Bros. line would be easiest to modify into a Continental engine. Anyone done this before?

WB only makes (made?) three cylinder types: The LeRhone, the Pratt-Whitney, and the Gnome. The Gnome cylinders were only available in the larger 1/4 scale size. From my bried explorations of the web it seems like the Contiental witha a licence-built version of the Pratt-Whitney to that's the cylinder you'd want. The other two have that definite WWI look.

abufletcher, they also make cylinders for the Wright J-5. I finally found a decent picture of the Continental cylinder and I think your right the P&W cylinder is closer.

John, Thanks for the link to a great site. There is a ton of information there that could be applied to any rag airplane. Unfortunately I want to do a radial continental. I have a supply of Williams Bros cylinders so I'll just have to take some pictures next time I am at an airshow.
