Dennis Bryant (English scale modeler) built one of these years ago. Here is the C\G location from his plan. It ought to give you a starting point.

Hey , Fantastic, what more could a guy ask for. Less than 2 hrs after the post hit the airways. Thanks alot for the cg local. It is about where I expected it to be ....25%. What size plane is this one?

The model spanned 61.5". Powered by a Merco .61. It won the 1963 British Nationals. That was 39 years ago! The plans were in an old RC Modeler publication called "The Challenge of RC Scale". Cost me all of $3.50 in 1967

Macchi 202

I will post some pics of the Macchi later this week. I am getting the landing gear strengthened. I agree, The Italian Lightening is a cool and unique airplane. The landing gear is alittle bit different....so tall. I have mine powered by a ST. 3250......more than enuff power. I plan on entering it in my scale contest in about 3 weeks. I must giive IMP soome credit, they came out with some unique airplanes. I have their FW190D9 ready for primer and a Tempest NIB waiting for some tlc. You know mustangs and P47s nda corsairs are nice....but a dime a dozen anymore. What do you guys have in your inventory that is truelly unique?

IMP or Innovative Model products closed the doors about 3yrs ago. You can still find their kits on ebay and here. AAll that is left of the business is I believe selling some glue and a metallic paint like finish. Sorry about that.

Macci 202

I blew up the 60 size plans in 1978 to 72 inches. I framed the fuselage and cut out the wing ribs. I was going to put an OS .90 in it. That was a huge plane at the time. Just never finished it.
I also have the Innovative Macci, but have never been able to get the Century Jet retracts to hold up. The fork twirls around the strut, so I have yet to fly that one either. I have a Moki 1.8 in mine.

So you are having problems with the landing gear.....I am having problems with mine also but because there is not enuff support in the foam . i am putting iin soome support this week. Maybe you can tell me where is the cg on yours? Can you give me a meeasurement froom the leading edge? YOu got pics of yours? I would love to see them. That landiing gear is kinda long and tall, the guys here have a question mark oon their lips when they look at it. So what are you gonna do to get it in the air?

imp Macchi

this is a good news bad news situation. The CG for the Macchi is right at 25%. We flew the Macchi this weekend and the ST 3250 powered it up just fine . At about 150' alttitude the engine sputtered and died. The plane has a great glide ratio but we did n't quite make it back to the runway. Kknocked the gear out but it will be ready to fly again this weekend.

How far back from the leading edge at the fuselage did you balance it? Good luck on the repair.

3250 sputtered? I'd never heard of that!

Get another engine G-MAN! Save your nice looking airplane...

RE: IMP Macchi 202

Hello Scale Fans:
IMP is very much still in business. I spoke to Gregg Namey the man behind IMP only a few weeks ago at Reinbeck. He is still selling plans and cowls and canopys. He also has some glas fuses for some of this planes. i have a Macci also. I also have his plans for a Dauntless and a razorback Jug. I have 2 canopys and 1 cowl(for the jug). Workmanship is fairly good. I hope this helps.

Great, but $479. for a 63" span wood kit! More than I'm willing to pay, even if it is an unusual plane to be kitted. I've used their aluminium finish 'Skinni-Dip' on a red box TF P47. If anyone's interested in how that works I can offer some comments.

RE: IMP Macchi 202

The Macchi is sitting in the basement waiting its turn in the rotation . I have to do a little touch up painting but it is still there. IMP kits are not to bad. They are some of the most unusual kits on the market. I can guarantee that they will be the only kit of its kind at your field.Among the mustangs, p47s, zeroes and 190s, it and they will standout. I have their Spitfire, Macchi, Typhoon, 190d9 and they do draw their appropriate stares and questions. Right size planes maybe not at the best price.......but remember, this hobby is only expensive when we crash.
